Demeter's Holy Water. Amazing fragrance, won't mess with intolerable allergies (since infancy nearly 50). Will bring all the boys to the yard, won't give you a headache and doesn't cost a fortune. I love Demeter and tried it on a whim because of the name.... that was around 2000 and I still love, use, and always have it around. You've probably never even heard of it, but everyone I've let smell it loves it.

As a proud Lafayette native, sharing Kevyn Aucoin's hometown roots, I had the extraordinary privilege of knowing his beloved parents, Thelma and Izzy. Following his untimely passing, I was deeply honored to join the Kevyn Aucoin Beauty family as the Southwest Sales and Artistry Trainer. Holding the esteemed employee number of 23, I witnessed firsthand the revolutionary ways Kevyn transformed the beauty industry and touched countless lives, including my own. I am eternally grateful for the profound and lasting impact he made during his time on Earth. Miss Erin, in my opinion, stands as one of the most gifted makeup artists since Kevyn himself, and I eagerly anticipate the day she launches her own exceptional line! Keep painting!

When I was like 15, I saw Linda Evangelista at Schipol Airport. It was like 1998 so no phone cams or social media. This was post supermodel era. She wasn’t instantly recognizable but I went up to her and told her how big of a fan I was. Told her how I was also from Canada. All she said was “mm hmm” and kept walking. She didn’t look at me or acknowledge me. It was hilarious. I just Homer Simpsoned myself back into the bushes and waited for the embarrassment to dissipate 😂

I'm glad you said something about tightlining causing dryness, because you are 100% correct! Each upper lid has around 30 meibomian glands, and each lower lid about 25. These are where your tears come from and your lids distribute them to keep your corneas healthy, moist and comfortable. Tightlining essentially stuffs these glands with product so they can't do their important jobs! I wish more people understood that they shouldn't tightline!
@itzakpoelzig330
@itzakpoelzig330 2 ай бұрын
No, the meibomian glands are sebaceous, meaning they put out oil, not water. They make "meibum" which is the eyeball equivalent of sebum. This oil lays in a thin layer over the layer of water on our eyeballs, and keeps the water from evaporating. If the ducts get blocked, your eyeballs will be dry as the Gobi desert 100% of the time, and it's the freaking worst. I know all this because I had, like, debilitating dry eye for decades. All the drops weren't helping at all (they can't, they're water based) and doctors seemed clueless. I did some serious research, and finally learned that my meibum was too thick to ooze out of my meibomian ducts like it was supposed to. Basically, my ducts were constipated. You could also artificially block your meibomian ducts with eyeliner, I'm sure, but I wasn't doing that. My meibum was poor quality because my diet was poor quality. I didn't really improve it, but I learned that taking plenty of fish oil was enough to "thin" my meibum. I also did meibomian duct massages every time I took a shower (the heat and stream help), and my crippling chronic dry eye went away went away in under a month. I know nobody asked for the life story of my eyeballs, but maybe somebody needs to hear this information? Chronic dry eye sucks Satan's booty hole.

@itzakpoelzig330 having worked in ophthalmology for 15 years, this may have been your specific issue, but there's more to it. Oooh boy, you should see tightlined eyelids at a slit lamp; they're horrifying! Tears, that come from the meibomian glands are comprised of water, mucin, lipids, lysozyme, lactoferrin, lipocalin, lacritin, immunoglobulins, glucose, urea, sodium, and potassium Glad you found ways that work for you to control your brand of dry eye--it sure can be awful.

As a makeup artist of over 20 years- you never cease to inspire me to rethink the craft!! This was absolutely stunning- and Kevyn was an absolute master. I am running to find Taupe blush that had been hiding in the bottom of my kit. And THAT LIP?!!!!! Deceased!!!!❤

This type of makeup look has always been my favorite go-to; not necessarily "dramatic", but defined liner and lashes with a touch of color on the lips, while the rest of the makeup is more of a defining/highlighting/contouring the shape of the face while avoiding the flat/featureless "pancake face" look.

Erin, what i love most about your videos is the artistic aspects. Sometimes others in the beauty space take make-up wayyy to serious in the sense that it should be this way or that way or a right way or a wrong way. But your videos and your channel and you show that makeup is fun, its an expression of art. I learn so much from your videos and have so much fun watchign them too. Thank you Erin!!

Kevyn was such a titan in the makeup space with his talent and his support of diversity not just of all skin tones, but of all sizes and body shapes and such. Nobody has been able to fill the space his passing has left behind and while there are still a few legendary makeup artists still out there, Kevyn's passing really felt like the end of something special.

SAME. SAME. SAME. My books are falling apart like yours. He was a genius. When I met Amy Sedaris at a book signing, the only thing I asked her was what it was like to work with and be friends with Kevyn. Inappropriate? Maybe. But I've always been so fascinated by him and his talent. Thank you for introducing him to other generations!

I used to work for MTV a LONG time ago, and I have a vivid memory of doing my makeup in my bathroom for a holiday party with Kevyn’s “Making Faces” book spread open on top of my closed toilet… 😆 But then it gets better - Kevyn was AT the holiday party… !!! But I just couldn’t find the courage to speak to him… I worried that he would find me foolish, gushing over him and telling him that I had done my makeup using one of his books as a guide. So I didn’t. I have regretted not approaching him ever since, and especially when he died. 😢 I loved him so much.

While I was a makeup student (broke) I would always go into my local book store and read Making Faces, I was always too broke to buy it so I would flick through page by page. Now I’m no longer a makeup artist but that book definitely has a lasting effect on me ❤

Kevyn was why I got into doing makeup. My Auntie Paul (drag queen friend of my moms who was dying from AIDS) was a fan of his & based how he taught me to do makeup on Kevyn's principles. The first things I bought when I moved to Toronto for Uni were all of KA's books. Just so many sweet memories from my childhood revolve around him.
