I really love this movie so much or even the whole series since episode 8 s2. The love gesture Katou gave to Tomoya is really sweet and somewhat innocent. Honestly until the first comicket it feels like the series was a generic harem romcom with everybody happy ending. The season last episode change my mind and give a green light to Kato route. The betrayal from Eriri and Utaha is not that unreasonable. It's hurt both parties a lot. They need to make sacrifices and actually a considerable one. As someone who knows how important pushing ur limit, working on an important project and build your career that path they choose is quite reasonable to pick. Also the ending I love it a lot. All the main heroine doesn't feel like a doll character They cried and think a lot I mean a lot. The show tells us how they not easily smile and say congrats to Megumi. They make it hurt so much. Just like this scene which I'm okay about. Even Eriri cried again in the bathtub lol. I can feel the adoration of the writer to every main heroine. ALSO MEGUMI GESTURE IS JUST SOO SHE IS SO ADOORABLE I MEAN THAT MUCH. I CAN BELIEVE SOMONE TO HATE HER

I will explain its in my opinion (prepare for my bad grammar english are my 3rd language) The reason why what is Eriri saying is very important (were you in love with me 10 years ago) is because Tomoya first love was Eriri but they get bullied Eriri chosen to left him (its her views that its gonna be the best choice for them) So after she left him first time Tomoya lost his love for her and thinking all the times that Eriri did not have any feeling to him. But Eriri knew thats too but.. she know to herself that she betrayed him twice and it was too late. Tomoya has chosen the winner she can not do anything about it not even telling her feeling. All she can do is asking Tomoya that was he in love with she 10 years ago. Thats the only way she can tell Tomoya that she was in love with him too all the times... Thats why Tomoya cried... And so was me..

I watched the movie yesterday and I have similar feelings like you. However this scene is so good that in my opinion it can be interpreted in very different ways. (I hope it will be readable because my english grammar is bad too) I love that scene especially because I like to think about that moment as a closure of their past love for both of them. I even believe Tomoya was crying because he still loved Eriri but in different way that it used to be back then. They both knew they loved each other although they never could and never would be together. When Tomoya said "Who cares?" he was technically right. What they were feeling 10 years ago wasn't important anymore but it didn't changed the fact that their past feelings were (and in some ways always will be) real. Thats why he cried. In my eyes that moment helped they both to move on and to never again think about their past lost feelings with regret. That's why my heart ached while i was watching Tomoya crying. It is fascinating for me that this one moment of Eriri's story was more interesting for me than all of Megumi's plot.

​@@ludzallen954 Somehow I agree and disagree at the same time. For me beauty of Eriri's story lies in her love for Tomoya being slowly lost over the years wich made it impossible to happen. I can't imagine them together at the end but I wish her story was even more explored. I know wanting that from this anime would be irrational because the plot is mainly focused on other themes, but I think I would enjoy that story more if it was like that. Maybe there is other anime wich is about reuniting with first love from protagonist's childhood years and will fit my taste better but I just have to find it. (I mean there is probably plenty of them but they often aren't good and don't have that "special feeling" that's somehow was present here in good parts of Eriri's plot wich made them emotional for me)

Betrayal aside both utaha and eriri stated that they can't grow talent wise even if tomoya were on their side cheering for them while katou on the otherhand didn't leave tomoya and made a huge effort to learn the otaku culture in order to support tomoya at the very end which even the aggressive utaha recognized and even calling katou a "bitch" but not in a bad way but as an acknowledgement that katou defeated her in her own game.

In real life, what hurts is not being chosen after all the time they spent together. It is nice to work on your dream projects or whatnot, but I don't think not having that was the deal-breaker. They were probably moving along with life as friends and kept things vague until it kinda lost some steam. Then a new girl showed up who charmed him and was okay to be with him in public, which Eriri could not give until it was too late. Tl;dr Tomoya and Eriri friend-zoned each other until a new hot girl arrived and spent quality time with him.

Well, in a way, he can't answer 'yes I did, and still do', as he already picked Megumi, as he said Megumi he can pick only one, but he can't lie either and say no, so instead he basically says 'yes, but, Megumi, sorry'. They do love each other, which makes this sad scene, it just had to be Megumi in the end, it was main heroine route from the start. Tomoya had/have feelings for them all, more or less, they have too. Some say Eriri got what she deserved because betrayals, I put those in perspective, first time she was little girl and got scared because of otaku bullies, turned back yes, but still kept contact, first scene with Eriri was checking Tomoya's class from school board. Last time she got great opportunity, chance to really proof herself and get truly challenged, those two had whole time other foot somewhere else so they were only just like loan and time was up, It wasn't even that bad one, they were only started plans for the new game, Tomoya was even checking from Utaha are they really in with them when she said no for both of them, Eriri couldn't do that as she felt really bad. Tomoya and I both understand them. It wasn't that bad one as they left early part not like middle of it, which would have been way worst so Tomoya had still time to get Izuma and all worked out in the end. Those two even come to heip them with that, and at the end they all reunited as old/new circle, which I liked, even Eriri as she was always promised to do, for Tomoya, once more. He picked Megumi, which I have no problem with, this wasn't harem one, good or bad, I felt bad for other girls but specially Eriri, she got worst burn. Nobody is perfect, but love helps, like with Tomoya and Megumi too. I think Tomoya could been happy with Eriri too, love would had made it. But Tomoya did fall for Megumi and hard from the start and couldn't let go even when given cold treatment, and Megumi for him even when she did try to fight back her feelings, she was so cold for him few times that you only won't give up unless your are in love to the bone, good that she finally got that and gave up the act. Even Megumi was worried and sorry for Eriri. I think Eriri was dipping her at the bath to make clear what will happen if she keeps playing with Tomoya or hurt him. Interesting though that later Megumi went so far as threat him with a possible break up, if he won't go back to making games, even when it's just a Utaha's dream plot scene it's interesting how strongly Tomoya reacted to that, and in real life didn't went with him to meet wonder duo like once would have. Also she didn't kiss Tomoya out in the dark but did it front of other girls, to be honest to make a point for them. All said, they do look happy together, with makes it happy end, just with light taste of bittersweet. I like it, even when it was emotional roller coaster, I even learned some new stuff. Great anime. I don't think she was trapping him in this scene in any way, she just needed to know, and she got practically yes but answer, only one he could give, it was coming that's why Tomoya went out to her, to deal with it. Truth is he almost flipped, almost, prove for how much they really meant for each other. But Megumi was bit more special one, or more normal like him, so no flipping. Utaha more like gave up, and let them love even when still got same feeling and flirt game on later. To the next anime. Bye.

(Correct me if I’m wrong) 10 years ago, Eriri abandoned Tomoya for the sake of having normals friends. This hurts both of them, but Eriri is just undergoing group pressure which is quite normal at such an age. Now 10 years later, Eriri and Tomoya have reunited as friends and Eriri’s feelings remain, but Tomoya’s don’t. In the end, Tomoya ends up with Kato Opinion/analysis Like I said before, it’s very normal for young girls to undergo group pressure and to be separated from your best friend. It happened countless of times to myself before in preschool. Tomoya has always loved Eriri up until she betrayed him. Before they reunite, Tomoya isn’t sure who to blame for their separation, but once they reunite he says it’s Eriri’s fault. It is in fact not complete Eriri’s fault since she has still been in love with him all this time. She has now grown up, but Tomoya is already taken. It’s a concept of the mistakes in the past and the present. A simple case of “If I hadn’t done that, I would’ve had it all”. It hits particularly hard though since childhood friends never win. I honestly thought Eriri was quite annoying at the start, but I concluded her best girl at the end. Utaha was annoying at the start but fine at the end. She prepared Eriri for what was coming. Kato was best girl. I liked her, but I think her character development was rushed and she simply changed too much in a single season and a movie (especially the movie). I over-all think all of the girls except Michiru deserved to end up with Tomoya, but Eriri had the most right to. The end feels unreal tbh i wasn’t expecting a good end so it’s fine

We cant say its love 10 years ago, theyre elementary. Maybe affection of friendship thats fueled by the same hobbies. A very positive one, but fell apart coz of some bullying by fellow kids. Choices were made and yes its not entirely Eriris fault, she sacrificed their relationship to stop kids from bullying tomoya by breaking the "otaku couple" the bullies started. Hes at fault too for giving up on eriri until 10 yrs passed. But i sympathize for tomoya more, the decision to break their relationship falls under eriris choice. even tho she didnt have a choice and a girl at that, a kid thats force to do something she didnt intend to do will come haunting her in the future, but still did abandon tomoya which hes left with nothing, he was bullied and never had friends after that, he said it took him years to finally talk again to people. Theyre kids at the time and maybe along the ten yrs they started to feel to move forward, even that happened in the past, theyre still friends in secret and talk to each other. But not as close as before. Eriri prolly grew feelings for him, longing for the relationship they once had but tomoya werent, coz he felt betrayed being left by the only one true friend before. If i were eriri i would have fought anyone just to keep my one true friend, which is what tomoya did for her, making enemies of everyone to keep eriri beside her but she still left him. Eriri maybe best girl, opinion wise i understand and respect that. There utaha factions too so i clearly respect everyones opinions. So my opinion was the whole story was just right. Megumi best girl for me, coz no matter what ups and downs tomoya have gone through, shes always there never leaving him behind. Her character development is pretty much okay, started off bland which is whats intended and gradually opening up we can see she can be caring and thoughtful when she helped him for project proposal, she did went back from family trip just to help him or the circle, shes the first member that joined. Then we can see her getting absorbed to the gaming productions asking eriri to learn scriptwriting, debugging, programing etc. Then there are instances of her showing emotions of anger on rokutenba mall, jealous when michiru was introduced, possesiveness when izumi clings so much to tomoya, (tho played off as a joke) season 2 a deeper involvement to the circle, rejecting a suitor to focus solely on the game-making at hand. You can never imagine a bland girl will do so much for the protagonist, so her character was really well developed for me. She even threw a tantrum when they fought and she cried, she always reprimand tomoya and praise him if he did good. The absence of two, she filled it in, suggesting to continue blessing software when tomoyas about to give up. Long story short, utaha and eriri are so talented theyre labeled as geniuses, which brings us to think that tomoya and them never see eye to eye as fellow creators. Them always moving forward at a faster rate than tomoya, coz he is just a normal high schooler with a lot of passion but no talent. Kato made a good point in the shower with eriri that maybe if the two of them are together, they can walk side by side, no ones lagging, no ones ahead. They can understand each other and support each other because theyre just "normal". Not geniuses, not talented. Megumis conversation with izumi and michiru proved us that she never sees tomoya as special, but because of that he is the best. What it implies is that tomoya having no talent or is not special in anyway, is driving everyone along with his passion, he can accomplish things through hardwork and dedication even he is just a "normal" and "ordinary" person. I think in M flat ost in s1ep3 theres a line in english there that goes "I'd rather try to support someone trying, than trying hard myself" it perfectly shows how she helps him through thick and thin, even tomoya betrayed her trust twice, first being not able to consult her when eriris in nasu kogen, and second when he left the circle to help utaha and eriri in fields chronicle. After all that, he came back and stil she forgave him. From bland girl to very showy emotional girl, if thats not character development, dont know what is 😂 My take is Megumi has all the right to be with tomoya. She didnt leave him, or betray him. She supported him, she walks alongside with him, they are chasing dreams thats never been behind nor ahead of each other. Utaha maybe the second for me coz she also supports him and puts him first before herself, but hes second only to her career, so push comes to shove, akane recruits them, she left him, made her decision without even telling tomoya firsthand, thus she also betrayed him in a sense. Third would be eriri, coz she betrayed him twice now. No matter what the reason it really hurts to be betrayed by someone dear to you. Even if its for ones sake, a choice have been made and its never gonna go back the way it was before. We can forgive, but we cant forget. Prolly tomoya psychologically scarred by eriri unconciously, that even here in this eriris clip, he didnt know if he loved her 10 yrs ago or its just as friends. Tho utaha and eriri admitted they really did betray him, difference from eriri is that theyre accomplice now. No lol, megumi had the most right to end up with Tomoya, as you put it. She was with him all the way through. Eriri wronged Tomoya, more than once and she never thought to apologize - Tomoya was the one to reach out both of the times. She could've been mature about the whole thing, tell Tomoya she was offered a job which she thought was more important (fair enough) but she decided to cut contact and hide behind Utaha. The two just keep on fighting about the stupidest shit. First Eriri cutting him off in elementary school, then getting all pissed cause he doesn't like her art after they reunited, then deciding to become Tomoya's number one (artist) only to ditch him again when the 1st opportunity arises. And there's also that whole inferiority complex Tomoya has going on cause of how great of an artist Eriri is. Megumi on the other hand, is simply there. She takes care of Tomoya, helps him with the game, learns to code for him, their chemistry is great, they're acting like a married couple even before dating lmao. She never did anything to upset him, whats more even, hes the one to hurt her, twice, and she forgives him both. Like Tomoya said, she's easy to reach. She's there. She could have asked him to take a small break for her to do her internship, they could have done something to work things out..... But she never once took that chance... She literally only allowed her feelings to be known once it was too late.... She never took the chance... and suffered for it...

Damn man, Eriri was the girl. It only doubled my favoritism that she was a childhood friend but being abandoned by her a second time just hurt. I dunno what I would of said in a scene like this. Part of me wants a payback but more of me doesn't want that. Tomoya saying "who cares" seems like the best answer I could come up with. But to be seriously honest, even with Katou I'd want Eriri as a second wife and Izumi as the 3rd and Michiru as the 4th. I am totally indifferent towards Utaha.

Man watching this series wanting Eriri to win must of been tough. It was pretty obvious Utaha was gonna win from the start so I never really got invested in the shipping wars for this series but man being a Eriri fan had to of sucked. I mean sometimes she was just hard to like but then other times she was literally the best girl. Also it was pretty hard watching her slowly realize she wasn't winning. Let's get one this right, the second "betrayal" was her talented ass taking making a natural career progression - I'd beat the author with a stick had either of Utaha or Eriri stayed in the circle at that point out of obligation or their love. The way they dealt with revealing info this, not the best either but still wasn't end of the world disaster imo. The first betrayal was tasteless I will admit but I want to give her a bit of leeway as she was just a kid at the time and presumably all the whispers around Eri and Tomoya, were very shit - both had different amounts of courage to truely be themselves - so I don't hold that betrayal up against her, but in comparison Utaha and Meguri are ahead

In eriri's defence : *First betrayal* The time she did that she was just a child , plus she did so because tomoya would always endup in a fight with the other kids (in result being bullied more) as if why such a beautiful girl is hanging out with tomoya and they were being separated a lot of times by the teachers all she could think of was to act the way she did ;despite forsaking him in public they were still freinds In secret. Her drawing the manga was a way to get revenge on all those people who separated them then. *2nd betrayal* She had a pretty good reason for that , plus utaha said that eriri has to make a decision as if , if she will work with akane only then she will do too. For the part she didn't tell tomoya is because it was utaha's turn now eriri made the decision for both of them so now it's utaha's duty to tell tomoya and take one for both of them. For the people saying she didn't apologies she did after tomoya said she is his no. 1 and she ends up apologising all other members for the delay.

She already betrayed him on their childhood when she's trying to ignore Tomoya because he's getting bullied for being an otaku and she don't want to get caught in that even though she really wants to be with Tomoya more (she's just really weak, well, they're still a child) And on what they so called, the "second betrayal" I really don't think of it that way because she promised that she will become Tomoya's no.1 illustrator and she's suddenly on a slump as an artist for so long and Tomoya can't do anything about it and she's only be able to draw because of a certain girl from that big company and they said (Eriri and Utaha) that they still want to create games with Tomoya when the time comes. Also not being able to draw as a doujin artist is just i dunno what to say. The story is kind of forced, like dude just because you're far from the mc for quite some time, (they can even meet even once in a while) you're gonna have to lose the battle lol. But Megumi is best girl after watching the movie. If you really don't have time to watch the whole anime, I still recommend the movie because it's good. And also, Megumi won. (Sorry if my english gave you cancer) I'm on team Eriri btw.
