I've one question Why should we celebrate Independence Day while we live as refugees? Where is the freedom we are celebrating? Where is the democracy we talk about? If independence means freedom, why are so many Eritreans suffering. In the first place, this was a festival of their Eritrean heritage and culture organized by the community there as is done elsewhere in Europe and Nort America. The large majority of rioters in blue T-shirts are from northern Ethiopia, a province adjacent to Eritrean who speak the same language as half of the Eritrean population. The leaders of this extremist and terrorist group have recently been observed exchanging their plans and calling for attacks on Eritrean festivals as well as churches and embassies. Police in Israel as well as elsewhere have been forewarned. For some reason the necessary precaution has not been taken even as this group violently attacked and inured Eritreans Germany and Sweden. Unless security officials recognize these individuals for what they are and punish them for their crimes, the West should consider it as encouraging terrorism in its own backyard! This is not about legitimate political opposition, but about the right of citizens to for equal protection. Eritreans should be allowed to assemble peacefully as other members of society in those countries (Europe, North America and the Middle East).

Because we understood it now. I've one question Why should we celebrate Independence Day while we live as refugees? Where is the freedom we are celebrating? Where is the democracy we talk about? If independence means freedom, why are so many Eritreans suffering. I understand why people want to celebrate-it's part of our history and identity-but supporting a government that forces its own people to run away makes no sense. True independence should mean justice, dignity, and a better life for all Eritreans.
