Erlang did good to help his sworn brother to achieve freedom in a intricate and complex plan. The "frenemies" vibe this duo exhales is awesome. A very good tale.

The game portrayed him well. A rebellious spirit just like Wukong but was bound by duty and family ties. One who could only hope to achieve what he really wanted by entrusting another kindred spirit. Also strong, elegant and noble in terms of fighting style. And you as a player feel that he has a counter to everything you throw at him. Just perfect.

Erlang is my favorite boss and as a character his dynamic with Wukong and his story during the game through his secret boss brothers is crazy good. 10/10 character

I like how amongst English speakers, Erlang's name is now "Erlang Shen" even though the he is never called that in the English localisation, but because we've seen enough Chinese speakers call him Erlang Shen, which is better translated to God Erlang.

Kind of like adding Mountain to Lingshan/Tianshan/Meishan , even though shan translates to mountain. Oh well 😅

@@Bleedthefreak This spelling is based on pinyin, a system that uses alphabet letters to represent the pronunciation of Chinese characters. Most young Chinese people use it to learn and input Chinese characters. It's not purely an English transliteration.

I think erlang shen (yang jian) and sin wukong his reincarnation (destined one ) are similar both suffered injustice of the jade emperor and the celestial court erlang was Born from a goddess yaoji sister of the jade emperor and a mortal man whom sh give birth to three children and her brother did not like thinking ot was transgression he order the army to kill his older brother and father and inpimprisoned his mother in the mountain similar to wukong erlang was traumatized by this event and the heaven waste no time then execute her by the jade emperor children erlang cousins when erlang was an adult to set her free and then in turn enrage erlang to murder his cousins and left one alive to Send a message to his uncle as a threat on any heavenly beings who would dare go after him and any mortal he cared about.

I feel like sun wukong and Erlang Shen had true brotherhood for one another he was able to equally match Sun Wukong I feel like they both had a secret plan to end this madness what's for Wukong to die on purpose and have the distant one become the new him and find all six relics invite all the people standing in his way

So let get this straight, there are a total of 7 Brothers of Meishan, and the ones that make them up are Sun Wukong, Erlang Shen, and all the other yaoguais mentioned in this video? And as a follow-up question, what are the real names of the Whiteclad Noble, the Yellow-Robed Squire, the Green-Capped Martialist, the Venom Daoist, and the Pale-Axe Stalwart? And don’t you guys find it weird that is Sun Wukong truly is a part of these Brothers of Meishan, it would be weird he’s also the leader of another group filled with yaoguais called the Seven Great Sages?

Erlang never saw himself as part of the celestial court and befriended any capable and worthy entities... guais are not all evil and i believe Sun Wukong was just a friend to Erlang, not part of his brotherhood. Sun Wukong's brother was the Demon Bull as far as I know

So Gamescience used the aesthetics of Investiture of the Gods’ take on the 7 Mt Mei Yaoguai rather than the Journey to the West 7 Mt Mei Brothers. The seven Yaoguai in Investiture of the Gods include: 1. Dai Li - Dog (not in the game) 2. Yuan Hong - White Monkey (not in the game) 3. Jin DaSheng - Water Buffalo (Pale-Axe Stalwart) 4. Zhu ZiZhen - Boar (Yellow robed squire) 5. Wu Long - Centipede (Venom Daoist or in Chinese - Black Hand Daoist) 6. Chang Hao - White Serpent (White Clad Noble) 7. Yang Xian - Goat (Green capped martialist)
