I love Matt McCoy. He is a fine actor. First saw him on Star Trek The Next Generation when he successfully played a young handsome heartthrob who stole the heart of Councilor Troy. Then he appeared on Seinfeld as the reincarnation of the crazy Lloyd Braun which, I have to say, was a downgrade for him. Here he played the brilliant lawyer (not attorney) who shredded Bachman's super-strong confidence like no one else could. He's fantastic!

In fairness to Erlich Richard didn't know what the fuck he was doing at the beginning of season 1. Pied Piper started out as a music app and Richard didn't even have a business plan. Even though NipAlert was stupid, I don't entirely blame him for wanting to can Pied Piper. Even Peter Gregory thought Richard was an idiot.

While this is a TV show and they dont need to make a considerable effort to maintain real rules and procedure. In this case it's not farfetched to presume that the two parties agreed to very simple rules and procedure that governed the arbitration.
