I truly thank you for posting this duet. Loretta always said that her greatest achievements were her kids. It's sad to think about her losing Jack Benny and Betty Sue; no mama should have to put 2 of her babies to tea

Barb Alexander Hi Barb , I'm a big fan of Loretta , I didn't no she barried her son , so sad ! Do you no how he died ,also how did Betty Lynn die , ? If you no ,I would like to find out , may they rest in peace , as someone commented above , a mother should never have to Barry a child ! So sad ! God Bless you and your family , heather from Canada ,P.E.I.

Heather Bowlan: I know Barb, and she and I have talked about this sad event. Back in 1984 Jack Benny Lynn was riding his horse on their property one day, like he did many times. But that day he didn't come home. Jack Benny was found lying in a stream with a bad head wound that had sadly killed him. It seems something went wrong while he was riding. He was only 34. Loretta stopped touring for quite awhile because of her deep, awful grief. Betty Sue Lynn sadly died in 2013 at the age of 64 from Emphysema. It's so sad to think that such a wonderful singer and person as Loretta Lynn had to suffer thru losing her oldest son and her oldest daughter. :'(

This is a great song and duet. Love mom and son stuff. Remember in Loretta's autobiography how she explained she couldn't keep Ernest out of trouble. They stopped to fill up gas for the bus and as they left, the band was laughing at the semi truck by them with a guy "mooning" them. Loretta said how did Ernest get in that semi....she knew her son and it was him mooning them. What a character.
@barbalexander7598 жыл бұрын
To Barbara Randall: Of course you knew that Loretta's departed son's name was really Jack Benny and not Jack Daniels. LOL! Maybe it takes a Barbara (Alexander) to understand the humor of another Barbara (Randall). I love this duet so much! Thanks for sharing it!

***Below sent by accident*** the line after the semicolon should've been: No mama should have to put 2 of her babies to rest, plus her husband in between the two of them. So I find it a true treasure to hear her and Ernest Ray, her only surviving son, singing this wonderful duet that I'm sure many mamas with sons truly understand. Somehow Loretta always has done the kind of songs that go right to the hearts of all of us wives and/or mamas. And I must say that this live performance makes the song even more special, especially Ernest Ray's good looks. ;) He still looks quite nice whenever I see him in his mama's band. I wish they'd do this great duet live again because I'm positive that there are a lot of women like me who would really love to see the two of them do this again. Loretta Lynn will always be the best lady country music was and is lucky enough to have.

Not only is Loretta the greatest country music singer that woman was a real good Mama she was just a baby herself having babies! Loretta was a tuff gal taking care of her family while her husband ran around I tell let's give a big hand to all the Mama's that held the family together while their husbands ran around like idiots drinking and women coming home on top of that making a rukus treating their wife like dirt!!! Thank God for our Mama's!!!

Several of Loretta's kids have the ability to sing but can not touch the soul that Loretta has always carried in her voice. If you just sound like anyone else with a passing voice you will die in the music business. I always thought that Cissy had the voice if she would listen to Sammi Smith or Tammy Wynette and pick up on how the distinction worked. She has to sound like she lived life to sing real country music.
