Had the weirdest Ernest Scared Stupid experience. Was my first completely empty theater experience. During Hurricane Andrew, my family was without power for two weeks. My parents got annoyed with us running around the house so they found a movie theater that was open. I just remember running up and down the aisle.

Spooky: Neil's entire horror album about death and capitalism and scary things Spookier: Neil's several hour long videos pretending to be an obsessive weirdo heavily analyzing McDonald's Trading Cards and being heavily invested in something weird and arbitrarily retro Spookiest: Neil's hour long podcast episodes about Ernest movies and watching them expecting something like the McDonalds videos and slowly realizing that you're completely absolutely seriously watching several people emotionally and passionately explain Ernest movies

The Redneckronomicon is an idea with legs. I don't *love* Scared Stupid, mostly because it is such a kid power fantasy, but it still has a lot going for it. Eartha Kitt was magnificent in the role, even as I wonder what she was doing here in the first place, and the troll costumes are similarly punching way above Ernest's usual weight class. New Chuck being a UHF alumnus is a neat bit of trivia; Al and Varney could've done something great together if they'd ever had the chance. Another great episode, and it was fun having Jack around. I could watch you guys talk Ernest forever, and given the steadily ballooning episode lengths, that may yet be the case.

Stranger Things is a great continuation of the Ernest lore to a point where I can hardly imagine them as separate stories. It's a shame that Netflix holds no rights to the names and locations in the original movies, but they did a fantastic job hinting at the continuity: -The posture and physicality of the Demigorgon suggests that it is Ernest P. Worrell paying his end of the bargain he entered when he originally banished the Trolls. -A demidog is proportional to Rimshot when scaled next to the original Demigorgon, suggesting they are rimshot's unholy offspring from his time in the Upside Down. -Joyce Byers is cast to look like Ernest's daughter, Joyce Worrell, from "Ernest: Day of Retribution" -Trees are still common portals out of the Upside Down -Kids on bikes

I loved Jim Varney as Ernest. He was the 90s Tyler Perry (as Madea), except he was actually enjoyable for more than 5 minutes. The movies range from cheesy to forgettable, but Ernest is what gave it the identity. It's stupid 90s kids stuff, but I loved the hell outta it. I may piss people sideways with saying this, but I like him better than Jim Carrey. I know, I'll go shoot myself for saying that, but I honestly like the child-like spontaneity Varney's acting gives off. It's innocent fun, though as an adult, I can't watch the movies (unless it's the Christmas one, I still love that film) because it'll bore the hell out of me really fast. I mean it's cool Earth Kitt was in this film, but besides oddities like that, it's a great memory to leave back of the bank. R.I.P. Jim Varney, the man died waaaaaay too soon.
