For us, Chileans, this story is special. The rescue of the Endurance team was a challenge in itself. In Chile, the operation, commanded by the Captain Luis Pardo in the ship Yelcho, is considered a historic feat.

The third man with Shakleton and Worsley who traversed south Georgia was Tom Crean and Irish man from Co. kerry. He had been involved in 3 other antarctic expeditions before the Endurance including Scotts attempt to reach the South Pole in 1912. The Unsung hero- Tom Crean is a great book if you want to know more about him. Loved the video!

Kiff telling of the tale ✨✨✨I used to go for walks here in Cape Town just to go stare at the Agulhas II and dream of sailing to Antarctica..however when I would bump into people who worked onboard I started thinking twice...even with modern luxuries, spending months at sea sounds like it can take a toll on you.

Every time I flipped the page, I thought, "OMG. It can't get any worse than this." Then it does, and it's incredible they survived. (p.s. The book about the Ross Sea party is called The Lost Men by Kelly Tyler-Lewis.)
