Got a request from KZbinr Clayton Bryington for this excellent album by E.T.
Interestingly all 12 tracks were released on this album only! No singles, ep's, or compilations as far as i can tell. It sucks because I'd really like to have Big City and She Called Me Baby on my jukebox.
I just discovered, 06/12/2020, that there WAS a Compact Jukebox 33 rpm of this album with 6 songs including Big City,, Seeburg 859.
Track listing
1."Big City" (Paul Williams, Sam Humphrey) ~ 0:01
2."Wild Side of Life" (William Warren, Arlie A. Carter) ~ 2:13
3."I Wonder Where You Are Tonight" (Johnny Bond) ~ 5:07
4."Beggar to a King" (J. P. Richardson) ~ 7:34
5."Before I'm Over You" (Betty Sue Perry) ~ 10:09
6."Each Night at Nine" (Floyd Tillman) ~ 12:55
7."Fraulein" (Lawton Williams) ~ 15:18
8."When Two Worlds Collide" (Roger Miller, Bill Anderson) ~ 18:08
9."I've Got a Tiger By the Tail" (Harlan Howard, Buck Owens) ~ 20:43
10."She Called Me Baby" (Harlan Howard) ~ 22:54
11."Tell Her So" (Glen D. Tubb) ~ 25:36
12."Don't Be Angry" (Wade Jackson) ~ 27:53
Recording sessions :
January 14 1965 ~ Columbia Recording Studio, 804 16th Ave. South, Nashville 3, TN - Ernest Tubb &Texas Troubadours (Leon Rhodes, Cal Smith, Jerry Shook, Buddy Charleton, Jack Drake, Jack Greene, Jerry Smith. Producer: Owen Bradley)

Come April 5, 2024, I will be 92 yrs old; and 85 yrs ago my dad and I sat up to hear the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. On 650 AM radio. We heard Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and many others. Thus it brought tears of nostalgia now; when I hear these old recordings that I dearly loved. May Jesus rests the Precious souls; of all of the "Country Singers".

You start to hear Ernest singing a familiar song, thinking it will be stale in his hands. Then listening to it you realise that the master has taught you what the song really means, a very very rare talent. Timeless.

That's beautiful. I was really close with my dad. He played country when I was a kid in the 60s. I've played various music mostly rock over the years but I'm very close to old country. I'm trying to put a band together playing it now but I'm a drummer so I have to learn guitar or banjo. I'm getting old tho so gotta hurry. Cheers heres to our dads !

I met Ernest in person near the end of his life at a nightclub near Carlyle, Illinois in 1982...It was freezing cold outside, he was more than 80 years old-in poor health and very tired; but persevered thru the show he did with his band...I was VERY impressed with his spirit and still am! Ernest Tubb was a REAL STAR...Outstanding!

In 1985 I heard Ernest Tubb for the first time with his song I wonder Why you said goodbye, and it was something impressive. His voice, the background music, was the best. I had already heard Hank Williams Sr., but Ernest Tubb, he was something different, a definition, a very definite background music, something special. In my personal preference, Ernest Tubb, is something that comes from older times than Hank Williams. Ernest Tubb, it's something special, and it's a good thing that his style is still in force.

Thank God for KZbin,I was in ET's record shop a few weeks ago, hoping to find loads of stuff I wouldn't find anywhere else, but regretfully, the racks were just full of everybody's greatest hits. Still,I've got my memories of seeing Charley Pride sing All I Have To Offer You Is Me,on the shop's stage in 1969...and many more!

Yea, if you want 50's and 60's country you HAVE to search for it on You Tube.Back in the 80's through the mid 90's we had an A.M. station in Houston that played OLD country hosted by Larry Gala who I actually supplied some records to AND got an on air thanks from him. It's where I first head ANY of Webb's 60's stuff in the mid 80's. It's where I first heard Fallen Angel, Where'd Ya Stay Last Night , and Memory #1.

Old Tubb was the real deal. You knew that voice when you heard the first note. He helped several country stars get their start. Jack Greene, Cal Smith, and others. I was fortunate to have seen him in Houston Texas when both were with him. Thank you so much for this album

You picked a damn good one there and thanks for the thumbs up. Like I said in the description, NONE of the tracks on this album were ever on a single and I'd kill to have Big City and She Called Me Baby on my jukebox.. I'd have to have a custom made single to do that and it IS possible but I'm way too cheap.. So I guess I'm saying I'd kill but not overspend ??? That ain't good..... :)
