I wish I could find this music on a cd or something. I literally love it. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. Takes me somewhere else every time I hear it.

I've seen this movie at least 3 times & it seems to get better each time. There's a lot of imagination- everything's not up close in your face. I love this movie.

I love this movie, I especially love Ernie Kovacs. However, seeing him smoking cigarettes is somewhat disconcerting. Yes, I know that he’s playing a character, as I have said elsewhere, he’s a better actor than he ever got credit for.

The Critics, "bombed" this film, which to my way of thinking, indicates that they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground! Superb cast, always loved watching Ernie in anything and Kirk was, as always "top self" entertainment. Excellent film score, and cues, by George Dunning, wonderfully "bitter/sweet" accompaniment for an interesting story, about troubled Humanity. And the period in which this film was set, 1960, added so much feeling to the proceedings, this film, is "first class" entertainment, all the way!...........

This may not be the best movie, but it's a gem in its own way. It's so beautifully evocative of the 60s. Most especially the look and feel of it, the married couples getting together, the clothing, the adultery in the air. I lived through those times and I relive them when I watch this film. Kim and Kirk are perfect. Oh, and let's not forget the hauntingly beautiful '60"s musical score.

Extremely well stated Maxine, my thoughts exactly, I lived through those times too, I relive those long forgotten times whenever I watch this film. As you have said rightly, it is so evocative of the 60s, I can never get enough of this film or the musical score. I am 67 and this film and those times seem like 2 lifetimes ago, thank you for your wonderful thoughts about this forgotten film Maxine...........

I think it was in Kirk Douglas' autobiography, he said he believes he was the last one to see Kovacs alive. Ernie and Edie were driving away from Milton Berle's house in separate cars, and Ernie was waving to Kirk as he was leaving.

To change subjects, but the film was filmed in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel Air and the restaurant and beach scenes filmed in Malibu. Anyone can drive through these areas today. Sadly, since my time growing up in the 50s and 60s property values have shot “Sky High” ! Many movie stars now have homes in Malibu.

Thanks for the heads-up Toppercat. I've been haunted by the movie theme since I was a six-year-old kid. I did a google search of Duning and found the theme for sale on Amazon Music. I purchased it and play it constantly. You made this sixty-plus-year-old person very happy. Thanks again!

@@solovoyager You are so welcome. George Duning had an amazing knack for really pretty melodic lines and the chords that made his music addicting! I wish there was an actual soundtrack available.

@@Toppercat I couldn't agree more. I don't know much about music, but for me to be haunted by this beautiful work since the age of six (I'm now sixty-five) is saying something about Duning's talent. Looking back as a senior citizen, that theme fitted the movie perfectly. You really made my day!

@@Q.Gold30 Thank you, Barry. I have seen this movie years ago but yesterday I watched it here, on YT. It didn't lose its appeal. I wasn't sure if I watched this movie. I did! In Poland! And Polish people titled the foreign movies any way they wanted, without any connection to the original title or movie plot. Fortunately, it changed in recent years.

Interesting how this movie captures the 50s at that time. Subtleties of an adultery relationship seemed to be normal no matter what decade we're in.

Those homes today were not your typical homes we knew as we had WW2 homes in the San Fernando Valley. Those homes today would be in the low millions for sure! It’s not too far from Santa Monica and the beach.

I don't think of Kovacs as an actor, but he was very natural and seemed able to create a character and do something with the dialogue.y

Ernie Kovac was ahead of his time and even had a short period on television and as I remember radio. He created his own repertoire ! He was outspoken and could be zany! He was married to Edie Adams! A pretty blonde. She’s in it’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Ernie Kovac had actually just died in an automobile accident. He was in real life like his character! He was the “real deal” ! Watch him appear on YBYL with Groucho Marx! He wasn’t shy!

This Intro is so depressive ....... Insignificant well-dressed consumers, superficial senseless and dreary life in the suburbs of the 1950s. Seeing this makes me sick and at the same time fascinating.

Obviously, with all due respect you were born several decades later or lived a dull life!! I don’t just say this out of nostalgia, but I had a wonderful childhood with playing outdoors, climbing trees and playing in the fields! We had more imagination than today’s kids! We made up games and everyone had large families with lot’s of kids to play with. My Dad had a swimming pool put in and I became the most popular kid On the block. My dad learned to fly and later had many airplanes. He bought his first Chevron Station! He bought our house on the G.I. Bill. We had BBQ’s and had friends over all the time. We were never bored! We had great imaginations and on that cemented a great future of creativity and originality! We went to the drive-in movies and saw a double feature with cartoons, drove to Zuma Beach and swam. We had a Helms bakery truck come by everyday and sell donuts and a Good Humor ice cream truck drive down our street selling ice cream as well as having our milk delivered to our doorstep in glass bottles. I grew up during the “Cold War”! Fascinating time. We went to Disneyland. So all in all we lived simple lives and were taught in school to have great expectations! I later was in the military, went to the university and got my Law Degree. Now, I’ve lived overseas teaching in China. I’ve always gone after my dreams and most came true.

To each his own. I found the intro to be a fond trip down memory lane. As a child of the sixties, it was all so familiar. It was the best of times and the worst of times.
