Absolutely beautiful, quality instruments. I saved up for ages to buy a 2017 Majestic purple Majesty, and for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I just can't bond with it. I don't think it's the guitar itself, which is incredible and even better and more beautiful than I ever hoped for. I think more than anything, the fear of it getting stolen or damaged if I took it to a gig sometime would be constantly on my mind during the gig and take away any enjoyment I would get from playing the gig in the first place. My #1 is a Partscaster that I put together a couple of years ago, love it and have totally bonded with it. It gives me the freedom and peace of mind to do whatever I want with it, knowing that if it did get damaged or stolen, it would cost me less than UK£500 to build another one. I hardly ever play any of my other guitars now either. The Majesty has become a case queen, hardly ever sees the light of day, but it would break my heart to sell her, knowing the sacrifices I made to buy her in the first place.
@Kinetex2 жыл бұрын
How’s the Majesty now?
@kevinmcguinness11132 жыл бұрын
@@Kinetex I persevered with it and it's now my main go-to for home playing. I re-jigged my rig EQ, upped the low end sub-1K by about 1dB and rolled the top end off above 4K by about 4dB and changed from a Rat to a Tube Screamer. That got rid of the shrillness and gain-y tones. It now just sounds brutal (think Petrucci/Jaws Of Life). I also set it up a with 9s a half-step down at E-flat standard, which now allows me up to three and a half step combination bend/upswing at the 15th fret (I'm a big Uli fan 🙂). Biggest thing though was that the guitar forced me into examining my playing and I realised I had to adjust a couple of things ... my muting on both hands had become a bit sloppy over the years, so I had to concentrate on that more and tighten it up. Also, I had to use a bit of a slightly tighter grip with my fretting hand to be able to accentuate the notes and articulate them cleaner, whether soft muted or hard pinch harmonics and anywhere in between. Sacrificed a little bit of legato and arpeggio speed, but that's OK, I'm not an out-and-out shredder anyway. So the problem was mostly me and how the guitar was set up, rather than the guitar itself and I like to think it has actually ended up making me a better player as a result. All good 🤘. I still won't gig with it though, still too paranoid about it getting damaged or stolen.

I still have my JPX-7 I bought back when it came out. Great guitar, although it is fretting out on the 20th fret on the treble side now for whatever reason. It barely rings out a note there, and if you try to bend it at all the note dies completely. Wonder if it needs fretwork, or if the neck warped slightly over the years? The action is not super low either, and no other fret has this problem on the neck.
@Nicholas2470662 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you need your frets levelled. The JPX didn’t come from the factory with stainless steel frets at release, so therein lies the problem I think. EBMM only started shipping guitars with stainless steel frets after Jan. 2011 so you’re bound to run into fret wear with regular ol’ nickel-silver frets.
@thomasmims78502 жыл бұрын
Easy fix man, this happens to old guitars all the time. You need to replace the fret or get your frets leveled off! Unfortunately you dont have the stainless steel frets :/
