There’s just something about this song man. I absolutely LOVE Erra, but this song just hits differently to me and is probably my favorite track. I’ve had two people in my life that I feel like honestly understood me. That I could truly talk to about ANYTHING, and really felt or could see what I was going through, just generally saw the world the same way I did. Truly special relationships, friendships. One was my brother, who died in a car accident in ‘12. The other was my best friend, my “other” brother, that overdosed on heroin yesterday and left me here alone with my own f*ked up head. I am forever grateful for those times I spent with them, they really did set me free from myself I feel like... I dunno man. I don’t know what I’m going to do now. I really don’t.

I hope things are going better for you, I don't know what it's like to lose a brother but I know what it's like to loose someone who feels like one. They were there in the darkest times, when I was stuck in an addiction I thought I wouldn't beat. Been sober since 2014 and this song just feels like it was made for me almost lol. @Johnny Martinez Few things I want to say and then I'm done and the floor is yours if you wish. Not intended to trigger. 1. Ugh, Periphery might be the most overrated band of the 21st century. They're like hipster metal to me. (Which may explain why most might agree with you, I believe that's also called the bandwagon fallacy lol.) I find them more unappealing than most I guess. They do have some good songs that stand out like "catch fire" and "erised". And I do like Spencer's vocals on "retrograde" by Jason Richardson. Although periphery has more songs I don't believe anything comes close to "dementia", "spirits away", "isolation blue", "continuum", and so many more. 2. With that being said you have great taste in music overall I must say. I clicked on your profile and I see darkest hour, veil of maya is great, MNEMIC (an incredible band was Mnemic! They're an old favorite of mine, right behind Erra and Soilwork, just wish so bad they would not have broke up) miss may I, after the burial, born of osiris, threat signal, within the ruins, slipknot (who hasn't heard them obviously) etc. I've been into metal so long. Well Erra became my favorite about 5 years ago. They weren't right away but after a bit they became my number 1. Hey to each their own! Nothing personal I assure you. There's so much great music out there thankfully 👍 if you feel the need to comment back go right ahead. You can have the last word. I've said all I want to say on this matter.

Carlos Fapdoola well Sumerian tends to compress their bands a lot, but it isn't that bad with the most records they have put out lately, I can't really recall the bands that had terrible mixing, but I'm listening to them with my Sennheiser Momentum

TYFLOL It'd be tough to find any record in modern metal that doesn't sound polished without being fairly compressed; this really goes for most modern music in general tho. But what makes you think that it's Sumerian who's applying the compression that you speak of? LIke I said, most of these bands have different producers and mixing/mastering engineers. What you're actually hearing has little to do with Sumerian themselves.

Compressors are a tool to keep instruments volumes relatively balanced by boosting volumes that were otherwise to quiet, and limiting volumes that were otherwise too loud. this is essential to ANY recording, every single fucking audio engineer uses compression in their mixes. I'n modern metal it is common place to put some kind of compression on every instrument including vocals. its not some outlandish win button for audio engineers to use to make their mixes bananas awesome. There's Only 2 bands that Sumerian released recently that I thought the mix was fucking atrocious, Betraying The Martyrs (worst vocal production, and guitar mix way to quiet), and Come The Dawn (guitar tone is laughable). Wana know something you should really put your complaints on? OVER Quantization. Making just "ok" muscians sound retardedly godly at their instrument. its the reason Dragon Force and Rings of Saturn even exist. sure those bands can write some awesome music, but they are faking it, and they cant play it live.

Augment is a god damn masterpiece and the only thing comparable to how flawless it is in entirety is the new vom release. I believe both albums combine rhythmic chugs, beautiful melodies, singing, screaming in the best balanced and complimenting ways. @@Vovoxa7 fr just low tuned guitars with over the top noodling on high notes you can tell Jesse isn’t progressing in guitar and writes all of it cause all the riffs sounds exactly the same the leads are barely there and don’t separate very much anymore. The break downs are boring. A lot of harmonics pitch shifting and G tuning it’s just lame and boring same shit everyone’s doing these days.
