Errinundra National Park & logging of Victoria's Old Growth Rainforests

I feel some resistance around sharing this sort of stuff. On one hand it needs to be seen, we need to be aware of how our environment is being treated. But on the other hand the flood of challenging and painful media these days can be overwhelming. These images are like adding another small cut to a larger wound that needs healing.
Social media makes for an easy, temporary escape from reality. But when that escape only floods our senses with chaotic advertisements, images and personal opinions it can have an unsettling and numbing effect on the psyche - A good reminder to consciously use and curate your social media feed by unfollowing or muting those accounts that aren’t supportive or healthy.
But I do believe that by being connected is the first step to caring. And rightly so this stuff hurts. The fact that it can be painful to look at shows that there is still a connection.

This footage was shot in far East Gippsland near the Errinundra National Park, specifically along Goonmirk Rocks rd, Backcreek Rd and Hensleigh Ck rd. The drone footage shows the devastation of several clearfell logging coupes.
The type of forest that has been cleared can be seen in some of the images in the video - Beautiful Old Growth home to many rare and threatened species including the Greater Glider .
The logging is conducted legally by the State Owned Business Vicforests. In their own words - 'We maintain the ecological diversity of our operations,' while their stated values declare 'we aim for zero harm, we respect and care for the environment, we operate in an ethical, efficient and accountable manner.'

The land referred to as 'East Gippsland' is country that spans three indigenous nations, these are the nations of Bidwal, Gunnaikurnai and Monero (Ngarigo). These nations never ceded sovereignty and continue their custodianship of the land of waters within so called 'East Gippsland'.
