Ted, Glad I came across your channel. Dope channel BTW. Just started working at a high end resort with 100+ of these units. I was intimidated at first because I had only worked on regular residential systems. Installed a couple of mini splits but never had to troubleshoot. I definitely want to ask you a whole lot of questions in the near future.

Nice video. I like the mini’s. Servicing is pretty easy but alot of guys don’t like servicing them. They are quite easy once you learn them.

At 3:52, it looked like the voltage was 0.015v, not 1 to 15v DC.

Nice had the same code on a Samsung brand new system and the blade nut was loose causing a out of balance motor and damaging it. Put a new one in and had no problems since and I also ordered a board just in case, 😅 I like them Samsung units.

Wait. I have E458. Is that different to C458? Aircon runs great for 2-3 minutes and then cuts out. I’m a sparky by trade but I work on commercial gear not so much splits.

Well. An update incase anyone finds themselves here. My Samsung “triangle” 2.5kw split system would run perfect for 3 minutes and then it would stop everything fan and display error code E458. I ended up swapping the entire PCB from one unit to another and that made no difference. (Started with that - as you need to access that to unplug the fan anyway)… I then swapped the fan motor between the 2 units and the fault followed the fan motor itself. I’m guessing it’s not seeing fan speed. As the condenser fan, has smooth bearings and runs fine otherwise. Hot tip. Wear gloves. The fiber impregnated condenser fan causes Sooooo much itching!! I’m now trying to order a new fan motor….

I’ve got a C416 on my mini split, it’s less than a year old. I can’t get the guy who installed it to come out and look at it. It would be great to use the thing I paid for. The last month it’s just been a wall decoration….

He probably didn't tighten the flare connections correctly or do a pressure test. You likely have a leak

It means replace the fan motor and board. If it's in warranty that is what samsung is going to want you to do.

I would expect the fan to be the problem more often because it has moving parts.
