Thanks John for taking the time to put this video together. It was a big help. Both Autozone and Advance Auto, probably all the big auto parts stores, sell these bushings. It's part number 47099, Dorman HELP Vacuum Retainers/Bushings. Cost was $3.99 for a package of 5.

My son was driving back from college for the weekend. Check eng light came on. Pulled codes when he arrived. Googled said code. Watched video. Felt the back of the engine and the rod was hanging down. Thanks for not letting me spend the entire weekend trying to fix this! 👍

I was pulling my hair out because I was losing power above 3,200 RPM and everything (coil pack, plugs, wires, MAF, TPS etc) were checking out fine. In my case I wasn't getting any DTC codes or a CEL. After viewing your video, I looked behind the intake manifold and there it was, the arm was laying down on the lower intake. Bought the Dorman kit, repaired it and now it runs awesome again! Thanks John for the info.

Thanks! Just ordered some for my Windstar. Looks like I will be lucky enough I won't have to take off the upper intake manifold until I decide to replace the gasket set and bushings.

You don't have to take the intake manifold off to fix this. Wait till your engine cools down and you can reach around the back of the engine and put the clips in place. I've done this before and takes about 45 secs

So i finally got around to checking mine out. The one that was broken was on the driver side. I was actually able to get my hand in there and replace the part, and push the arm back in. It wasn't horribly easy, but it wasn't too hard.

Great question, should be reviewed
@bjenks24 жыл бұрын
If it wasn't ripped anywhere and it has no vacuum leaks when it's reinstalled and torqued down, it's fine. You can test it by spraying carb cleaner around the gasket. It you have no lean codes or change in idle it's fine. If you want to change it when fixing this issue, now would be a good time.

I am at the same point you are. 3 of the four plastic clips were broken. I had only picked up 2 clips at the dealership because they told me there were only two. Even the parts diagram he printed me out only showed two, the ones on the IMRC control box were not labelled. The driver's side rod was completely disconnected on both ends and was thankfully laying there hung up on a wire harness or hose so I didn't lose it. Anyway, after picking up the right number of clips, I am now wondering how to confirm that the servo is working before I reassemble everything. I should have checked it again before I started. I know that it was working several months ago (notwithstanding that the rods were detached). Does anyone have the pinout so I can test the IMRC box before I button this all up again? It would be a pain to put this together with new clips only to find that the servo no longer works.
