The fix can be done quit quickly. But ofcourse its better if there would be no need for fixing it in the first place. I had some problem with the e-shifter but now its running smooth for quite some time.

Thanks for the video! I've got the same problem on my X3 and it seems only replacing the e-shifter can fixed. Contacted Vanmoof support because they don't have any local repair partners in my country. Hope they can send in a replacement.

Hello, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, it's a common issue with the X3 and S3 models. Fortunately, mine has been working properly for quite some time now. However, I've already had three of them break down. Now, when I start cycling, I press the turbo button and try not to apply pressure on the pedals.

Update: I contacted VanMoof to request a shifter replacement/repair. They said I can only get in touch with a “service partner” to resolve the issue, and unfortunate for me there is none in my country of residence. That’s the end of VanMoof support. I found a third party service provider located in Germany, who chargers about 100 euros to fix the eshifter. Sent it over today, hoping for the best.🤞

this was a great and helpful video, much better than the other ones on the internet. the test itself after finishing was a bit difficult since every time the e-shifter moved directly into gear 4. I guess I turned the pedals too fast from the start. but the real test, in the streets, was a great success. owww it is useful to remove the VM-app from the background since it caused the bike to switch on after a minute or so - when I had the app still open in the background - after I turned the bike off as per your suggestion at the start of the repair/video. next up: try and repair my old e-shifter. some people suggest a resistor needs to be replaced. I guess I have to get into measuring electronics to identify what component is broken en needs repair. any experience with such?

This was my 3rd ! Vanmoof swapped the first one (well Decathlon) then had a local bike shop do thw seccond. I have high hopes for the 3rd one !

Very helpful video, but i have a problem. The e-shifter dot is aligned correctly, but the gear set ring is not. In the official vanmoof video i should just be able to turn the gear set ring into the correct position, but i am unable to do so. And therefore there is still a gap. Any ideas?

The 2 marks on the e-shifter should be at a 90 degree angle. if not than connect the E-shifer to the bike and than start the bike by pressing the reset button. when de bike shuts down the new e-shifter will align to 90 degrees. Is your old e-shifter on 90 degrees? if not you can connect the new one and start the bike. if you put the bike on custom shifting you can put the shifter on the same position at the old on by shifting manually. Don't let your bike shut off because than it might go back to the old position. I am not a 100% sure if you can safely disconnect the e-shifter while the bike is on.

Yeah. With my bike resetting worked the first few times but on the long term it broke down fully. I hope for everybody the bikes will keep on working proper.

Hi, This error may occur when your bike cannot communicate properly with the E-shifter, or when the E-shifter cable is not properly connected. So if you are lucky it could be that the connector is loose or something

You can connect it and start your bike. The shifter will change gears.

@@edje1984 ik heb mij e-shifters nog onder garantie bij vanmoof gekregen. Nu rij ik inmiddels al ruim een jaar zonder problemen rond.
