Eruption, Van Halen, Cover By Dom Hawthorn

Had a go at learning Eruption yesterday afternoon. Wanted to learn this one for a long time, so was fun to finally give it a go.
Using my Fender Strat with Bare Knuckle Pickups VHII Humbucker, into the Sheriff 22 from Victory, then using the Suhr Reactive Load and the Line 6 Helix for phaser, delay, reverb and speaker simulation.

Nice. can i ask about how your trem is set up? is it floating? roller saddles? how do you keep it tuned so well with the dives?

Dd Ss Thanks! I have the trem floating slightly. It doesn’t have roller saddles, just normal steel block saddles. A good setup makes all the difference for tuning stability. I also apply a little Big Bends Nut Sauce to the nut, saddles, and string trees when restringing, which also helps with tuning stability.

Dom Hawthorn im calling bs here. for several reasons. for 1 i played strats for better part of 52 years. 2 I have spoken with many tech who have the same results as me. it is not simply a good setup. even E V himself did not play strats because of tuning instanility with whammy. so i call total bs.

Dd Ss Okay then.. Suit yourself, I must be lying I guess? Not like you just watched the video and saw my guitar stay in tune despite the trem usage? What reason would I have to lie to you? If you’d have asked, instead of being rude, I’d have happily sent you info on how I set the guitar up, but nah, you carry on with your tuning stability issues.
