Awesome video. One AMP to rule them all, One GAIN to find them, One TONE to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Don, congrats on a very instructive video an on your wonderful playing. I’ve currently got the Sheriff 22 and love the tone but had concerns as you describe in the video. I’ve just ordered the new 25. Your comments and sound clips helped seal my decision. Look forward to more videos from you!

Have been using this for six or eight months now gigging similar experiences to what you’ve discussed. No real problems mostly more gain than I needed in most cases, and since I stick to the vintage channel, I was super excited to see a couple of days ago that they came out with the deputy which is a little bit more advanced sort of ATM style. I do certainly think the victory amps Are far above what I’ve been getting from Marshall don’t get me wrong. I use my silver jubilee occasionally, but the sheriff has easily taken its place in all categories as much as I have loved that amp since 1987 and have played one since that time, I truly found myself immersed in the sheriff with new sounds that I had not discovered otherwise and continue to do so. I hope that it helps with my songwriting development as it seems to have had an impact over this last six months on my shows thanks again this one definitely gets out there and above the drummer even in a pretty good size crowd, I’ve had no trouble and a crowd of 500 with a 212, enjoy guys. It’s great in the bedroom too. Truly Martin Kidd is a genius. I am on my way to waiting for my deputy now patients patients I say to myself as I wait for UPS to arrive on Monday less than 24 hours wish you all the best see you around the deputies Table in another demo I hope 5:22 5:26 5:28

Hi, this time I noticed on the sheriff 25 by the way, phenomenal demo very dynamic playing style been teaching guitar a long time and you certainly have a very beautiful tone and I’m not talking about the amplifier talking about your fingers which is what makes them sound so good either way I am wanting to know how effective the master volume controls are on this amplifier. I mean on my Friedman I can literally take the PT 20 or, the little sister and use the volume almost like a power scale and preserve gain and tone yet get bedroom volume. Can these amps do that because right now that’s pretty much. The decision for me is whether this is investing because I will have to buy a power attenuator I guess is my point if I can avoid that I want to thanks again great demo killer playing 9:49

Great video. It's good to hear real world gigging experience from a review video unlike most others. Great playing and very informative. Answered all the questions I had. I'm looking for an amp to use instead of a borrowed Cornford MK50. Sounds great and has two footswitchable master volumes. I'm hoping this is similar.
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! The Cornford amps are very nice. I think you’d be happy with the Sheriff 25, or the Super Sheriff. On a few recent gigs, I’ve gone guitar straight into the amp, no extra drives/effects, and it really is very versatile amp. Covers everything I need in terms of cleans, rhythm, and lead tones.
@asw7696 Жыл бұрын
@@DomHawthorn That's exactly how I've been using the Cornford and what I want from the Victory. No pedals, just straight in. I'm using a single p90 guitar and just clean up the sound using the volume control and mellow it out using the tone control. It seems like the perfect amp for my purposes.

Finally, someone who knows just how much gain to use, and how to use a boost. 20 demo’s on YT, and they all sound like flubby, fizzy crap, short of the clean channel, which can be hard to screw up. Very well done. Not quite the Hot-Roddenberry plexi, I was hoping for, but it at least I know just how good it can sound. Very true to a plexi though.
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the kind words Phil! The VS100 may be more up your street if you were after higher gain tones, as it has an extra channel with even more gain on tap. I actually wanted this amp for the vintage channel and the plexi tones, and couldn’t be happier with how it delivers on those tones. I do love the hot Rod channel too, though. Thanks again!!
@phillamoore157 Жыл бұрын
@@DomHawthorn It's funny you should say that... I've been trying to find a good demo of the 100, but they're very hard to come by. That said, I'm not really a high-gain guy (at least not by today's standards). About as high gain as I get is Ratt and EVH (early). I just think that people use WAY too much gain in these videos regardless of amp). I thought you did a really good job of finding that sweet spot. And, I agree, the plexi tones are outstanding. And, that could very well be what Martin Kidd had in mind when designing it. Hopefully, a good demo of the VS100 will pop up, soon. Thanks again, Dom!

Hi Dom, the amp sure sounds awesome! And great playing! Have you gigged with it yet? If so, is it loud enough breaking up of course? Or do tou feel you have to run the preamp gain flat out in order to keep up?
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes I gig it a lot - it’s more than loud enough. Keeps up with our drummer easily, even with clean sounds. I’ve had 0 issues with loudness/headroom, which is a very nice improvement over the earlier range of sheriff amps.

Hi Dom, just purchased this amp, haven't had alot of time with it yet though, this is a great demo of the amp thank you, great playing bud, hope i get mine to sound as good😀 by the way what klon pedal and tube screamer were you using they sounded fantastic Dom. Cheers John
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words John! The tube screamer and klon were both from my Quad Cortex, just the standard models - any tube screamer or klone should do the same job really! I’ve used the EHX East River Drive with the Sheriff and it sounds great too. Hope you enjoy your new amp! Cheers!

Thanks Dom, yeah was using my helix through it using the minotaur klon effect through the vintage channel, gotta say I liked it very much, gotta work on the hot rod channel yet but thinking I'll probably not use it so much, I was getting good cleans through to good hard rock tones using the vintage channel with the effects on the helix. Looking forward to working on it today again

Great demo, does this get noisy when you turn the gain up? I've read a couple of people mention theirs do this
@DomHawthorn8 ай бұрын
Thanks. The amp is no noisier than any other amp I’ve played with the gain turned up. It’s noisier than with the gain low, but I don’t feel it’s anything out of the ordinary for this style of amp.

Is the 5:43-7:15 part on the Vintage or Hot Rod channel?
@DomHawthorn6 ай бұрын
That was the Vintage channel - using the guitar's volume controls to adjust the amount of gain. The amp is super responsive in that way, can go from warm cleans to raunchy overdrive just using the vol control on the guitar.

The el86 was my biggest concern, as I’ve never personally liked the vox sound or the lunchbox orange Amps, which had me leaning towards the Jack which can take the el-34… thank you for addressing that, have you played the Jack and have any comparison thoughts? Thank you
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment! I have played the Jack, and whilst it is a great sounding amp, it doesn’t really do the ‘British overdrive’ thing that the Sheriff does. The Sheriff 25 does that sound better with its EL86s than the Jack does with EL34s. The jack is a wonderfully versatile amp though and does sound fantastic, but in its own way. With regards to the EL86, my advice would be to forget about what the spec sheet says on paper, and try to choose with your ears and, if you play one, by how it feels - personally I would never have guessed the sheriff 25 didn’t have EL34s if I didn’t already know.

Does the volume actually get louder with a clean boost in the loop? For solos and stuff?
@DomHawthorn Жыл бұрын
It does yes - the new Sheriff range doesn’t suffer the same issues the old Sheriffs had with regards to clean boosts etc
