Given the option I’d ditch the Crap Raiders in a heart beat to join the B team. Ava is more annoying than all the kids in Skyrim put together and got my favorite character killed had zero character arc and is now in charge because screw you. I hated the story and honestly have no desire to play through with any of the other characters. I might pop in for events still with my max level Zane but none of the other characters as interesting enough to suffer through this crap again. Though if they make another dlc or event with Thrawn prawn whatever I’m out. If they’re not going to put in effort they can at least lie about and call it rain while they’re taking a piss on gamers

She went on a tirade once, and no one complained since she was just a kid who lost the person closest to her, Tannis even tells her to shut up after which she did. She didn't break any rules by getting Maya's powers, Tannis got Angel's powers, we used to think that Siren are born that way, but apparently powers can be passed willingly upon death, or it gets randomly transferred to anyone after the owner's death. Lillith's line, "Sanctuary's yours" is indeed a problem for me too, but it could be metaphorical as she is their new siren being trained to use them for a long time. If Lillith literally gave sanctuary to a little girl then yes, that is not OK. But people are overreacting.

But anyways, I had already been spoiler completely, and heard a lot of shit about Ava, so I just waited to see how awful she would be, but she wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. At least she reacted to Maya's death, for some reason Gearbox didn't use any other BL2 character other than Zer0 who barely had anything to say. Krieg coming in to get revenge against Troy would've been so much better. Shafting Bl2 characters so much pissed me off way more than Ava ever did. Kept hearing about how the universe might end but barely anyone to help beyond their personal problems on their own planets. TFTB characters got more love. Someone at gearbox really loves Lillith and Tannis and it shows, even the player character doesn't even exist during cutscenes, pissed me off a lot, where the fuck do they go? When Roland died it was a huge deal and you didn't have to become non existent during the cutscene, hell even Bloodwing got a much sadder death, made me feel bad and angry despite the fact that I hadn't even played BL1 back then.

She basically threw a tantrum the entire game just to be rewarded for it by getting Maya’s powers. Literally nothing she did makes her deserve any of the good things that she got. The story would have been way better if they killed Ava and kept Maya alive. They just decided to kill a fan favorite character in order to follow that basic trash story of their apprentice taking over. @@kraken1016 It could follow that trend. So far we know of five siren powers: Leech, Firehawk, Phaselock, Phaseshift, and Arm Rape. We never saw what Commandant Steele's powers were specifically, but it would be reasonable to say we find out about the 6th power in BL4 and what happens when they all combine in BL5. Or a combination of both in BL4. I suspect combination of all 6 siren powers would be the equivalent of being a god in the BL universe (which Tyreen could be a foreshadow of this), and it would be a fitting final boss for the BL franchise.

What the VHs killed in Borderlands 1 and 3 are just vessels of the Destroyer. Though in Borderlands 3,Tyreen became half of the vessel for the Destroyer, thus combining their power at once. Unfortunately at that point, the Destroyer was still weak and wasn't fully unleashed. But still, 1 edgy girl demi-god lovecraftian monstrosity vs 4 lads with guns.

I was extremely disappointed in BL3's story. While some characters where extremely established and experienced growth, becoming highly enjoyable, too many characters were either absent, boring, shallow, despicable, or simply uninteresting. The writers had the capacity to tell a deep story that include characters with a full arch and development. Unfortunately, they only seemed to exercise such talent on a select few portions of the game. I mean... how many times can a story progress solely due to deus ex siren?! Too convenient and not enough questions answered or the world explained. Lazy. Love the gameplay. Loathe the story.

Yes! I specifically went in blind so the entire story was fresh to me beyond Mouthpiece. It was a phenomenal experience. Personally I didn't believe Maya was really gone until the end. No it doesn’t you’re just biased. The story of BL3 isn’t the greatest but if you’re not being biased you’ll see that it makes sense for Troy to take her powers. Him and his sister are twins and share the same power. It’s already been shown that she can take siren powers like when she took Lilith’s. There’s also just the fact she can “consume” random people like her bandit followers. Up until meeting Maya Troy hadn’t physically touched a siren before besides his sister. He already partially shares the same power as his sister and thus that’s why she can “feed” him and why he can’t take her powers. It’s also why he was able to take Maya’s powers and even “consume” her. It all makes sense you’re just part of the hate band wagon for the game that makes it seem much worse than it actually is

Yeaaaah. Tbh Maya dying had my jaw drop. But everything after that with Ava and Tannis being Sirens felt forced af. And all this humility from Lilith about losing her power just for her to be right there and get them back at the end. Then she just flys to Elpis? Like what? The ending felt like how The Fight For Sanctuary 2 was meant to end. Right down to the cheesy "This Girl is on Fire" outro. I wanted Krieg,Axton,Brick,Mordecai, Mr Torgue, Grandma Torgue, etc. All I got was the Sisterhood of the Traveling Tattoos. Troy had huge potential and it was wasted, especially with the hints of him basically being physically and emotionally abused by his sister. Tyreen was played out as her character was portrayed no big surprises with her tbh. I think my favorite parts of the game are Eden-6 because Wainright Jakobs is wholesome af, and Nekrotefayo because after all the audiologs, anything related to Typhon Deleon had me wanting more. But all the forced Siren shit got tedious. I legit think I hate Ava.

I feel like borderlands 3 is more of a set up game than a climax. The one problem with “you’ll need all the vault hunters you can get” is well.. they’re everywhere. Literally. Some or in different galaxies, on different planets etc. And I feel like this game, although they’re all so far apart. Found a way to bring them all together, and made it easy to simply add others when needed. Borderlands 1 set the foundations for 2, and I feel that borderlands 3 is either paving the way for 4 or for the expansions we will see later.

The other thing that sucks about the end of BL3 is that, in BL2 when you killed the Warrior and were about to kill Jack, Jack's final words were so powerful and it really closed up the game. After beating Tyreen, she said nothing. It just made the ending feel kind of empty

The Borderlands 3 story reminds me of something a friend of mine said about Halo 5. He said it was a prologue to the next game in the franchise, a long and drawn out prologue that was disappointing in the process, but a prologue nonetheless. The story across the franchise is interesting, but poorly executed through B level cutscenes, audio, animations and certain dialogue choices. It's far more entertaining and interesting to watch a KZbin video explaining the story than to watch those awful cutscenes. Not to mention most the characters I found mildly interesting are dead now. I couldn't care less about Eva and Tannis. Oh well. I still had fun playing the game though.

As much as I like the "passing of the torch", I would hope Maya returns as a Force ghost. They spent a lot of time billing her as a "Jedi" in the press, and Borderlands being a reference of a reference, I think it would be cool to bring her back. Also, as much I don't agree with Anthony's views, the new team writing absolutely killed his and Mikey's stories. I think it would be amazing for them to collaborate and fix the universe, if a finale is imminent.

So I think it is very likely there is going to be a DLC focused on Maya's death with Krieg being some sort of focus/antagonist. All of Krieg's ECHOs, except the one with Tiny Tina, are about him trying to get better for Maya. The little voice in his head is trying take control back from the crazy side of him. I think Krieg finding out about her death could destroy him and send him on a collision course with many of the main characters in the game, blaming them for her death. I think it is super possible, and could be really cool if they do it!

Kono Kani oh, *ABSOLUTELY.* Borderlands lacks continuity as is, though. I thought the plotholes, retcons and inconsistencies in BL2 were really problematic... but compared to BL2 the writing in BL3 is a whole new level of hard drugs. Its astonishing to me that the writers for BL3 are worse than the already bad writer we had before, Anthony Burch (who wrote BL2 and TPS, and helped write Tales from the Borderlands). BL3 as a whole is terribly written, just like BL2 and TPS. Ugh... and here I thought we would get a semi decent story now that Anthony Burch is gone...

And with the nature of the Vaults and such being sorta better understood (we got to finally see inside one and see whats up with them better) its was a great cliffhanger.

First DLC is probably Axton and Salvador, Second one is all of the surviving members from Pre-Sequel, and the last one being a hunt for Lilith. Last one ends with a cinematic that includes the Watcher to some extent, then grand reveal for 4orderlands.

6:00 yeah, you know, or they pull a Kingdom Hearts and answer questions while creating new ones, so the story never technically ends. Also, I think this may be the first Borderlands where the DLC is more or less just story blocked off by a pay wall. Think about it. At minimum the first 2 packs could give us the Borderlands 2 Vault Hunters, a care for Maya's death, and a true war at the final pack.

To add: Zer0 now has a voice line referring to Maya's death that you can hear only after that mission before continuing, though he will only seem to repeat that ONE voice line during that duration, which makes me think it was an after thought, or a voice line they forgot to use that was added in with an update.
