This is the music we need to hear today, music with a message to let go of the toxicity built up over our lifetimes. Not clinging to a love unworthy or unhealthy, just for the sake of love. We don't have to cause ourselves pain for the ones we love. Sure times get tough, and the road ahead is unpaved and bumpy. But find someone who holds your hand through the storm, not someone who leaves you weather the storm on your own. Actions will always speak louder than words. When someone shows you their true colors, dont try to repaint them to what you wish they were. Do you boo boo 💖

I love how she teaches black woman self love in this song, and at the same time doesn't disrespect the black male either. She covers so much in this song in just a few words! She truly was a gift to the black community!

To the real miss Dee every woman Wow kudos kudos to Every real woman that is a grocery bag lady
@backroadgit Жыл бұрын
Respectfully Ms.Dee from one man’s point of view of this song. I feel she was saying Women should heal completely from all trauma not just relationships with men but also relationship with moms dads uncles aunties cousins boss men co workers siblings childhood friends the neighbor next door the creep up the street all of them before entering another relationship dragging them bags into every new situation might cause her to miss a good thing with a good man because she touting around all that baggage of her past. She can have a great man that loves her but if she doesn’t love herself enough to let those bags go no one can do that for her. Self love makes it better. I’m a black black man I mean like ghetto black I love my sisters but it’s super hard just being that. We don’t wanna deal with all that shhh too I’m sorry to the 90’s babies in my life let it go I’m a great man but all this crap you brought with you starting to spill over into my man cave😂😂😂
@jessicahartfield3748 Жыл бұрын
Lol no the message in the song is telling women to deal with your trauma so you don't weigh down yourself and others to point that you can't accept love. Deal with your shit so you can love and be loved freely.

Serious question. If you could go back with only the knowledge of how E.B.'s music and university would affect you, would you still go to university? I don't know what you went to school for but I don't see the correlation in the two. Music is a major part of my life, it's helped me find out who I am as a person but it can't teach me about my career in hvac which I also love. I hope you don't find offense in me trying to understand

I'm a black male and at a predominately white college, and listening to Erykah's voice calms my spirit in a way when I get tired of my environment. I feel like the messages she instilled in her music then would be so beneficial to young black women nowadays. Another thing that captivates me is her beauty and body, which is completely the opposite from what we see in music nowadays. Sadly music, (especially rap), has become about the lighter skin tone, and twerking. Smh, Erykah is truly an angel, and her success and impact will never be duplicated again.
@readyforwhatever10009 жыл бұрын
***** not at all saying you have to be a particular race, what I was trying to emphasize is that as a young man Erykah represents a totally different style and fluency in presenting her music compared to the music nowadays. And for clarity purposes a lot of white people at my college listen to today's rap and r&b music and have no concept of the artists who laid the foundation and actually made real music. It's like comparing Rae Sremmurd to Bone Thungs N Harmony. There's a big discrepancy there as quality goes. But regardless man I appreciate your feedback and was not trying at all to make this a race thing. Stay up, bro.

Wow, for the 1st time, i get every word in this song, pack light ladies, get rid of garbage and baggage in your life or opportunities and chances will pass you by (miss your bus) as you drag along your bags(baggage). What a beautiful message. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

When I was a kid, my parents always used to talk about how Erykah was so weird and always changed the channel when her music came on. But now as an adult im seeing all these subliminals and deeper messages in her music. It's a shame my parents didn't let me watch.
@ProphettessKay2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t grow up in the 90s but I definitely felt in my spirit that many black people called her weird. It’s unfortunate but we’re actually wired to judge the ones in our group who express themselves in a different way, even if they’re uplifting our community 🥴. Lol her music is also good as hell but, I do understand everyone has different music taste.

gemni690 I agree with you that people should love themselves first.. but that's the problem with a lot of black american girls/boys/women/men.. they don't love themselves nor their own skin complexion. A lot of black americans are quick to tear down another sista/brotha who may be light skinned or dark skinned.. because they themselves are insecure people. I believe if people loved themselves they wouldn't need and seek validation from anyone else nor would they care about whether or not a black mans preference may be light skinned black females over dark skinned black females.
