Hey Eryn, my boyfriend also has a Rav4 and you can turn off the electronic key by holding the lock button and click unlock twice, after ~5 sec you should see it blink twice and electronic key is disabled. Should save you the trouble of having to use the lock box. Click any button again to turn the key back on

This video was so helpful! And yeah - a packing video on how you pack your boards would be amazing. I have a few questions sort of related to that too: how do you haul your boards around when you travel? Do you have a portable surfboard rack? Do you always rent a car or can you take a taxi? Do the taxis get weird about strapping a surfboard to the top of their car? I’m so interested to know how all of that works! Also, what do you do with all your stuff at the beach? Like, if you’re traveling and staying at a hotel, where do you put your wallet, keys, towel, etc?
