I was in a toxic relationship where i put up with things that i never would have tolerated. I was very naive to spiritual things, being a first generation American born to Haitian parents. I grew up in church, but had a mother who blamed every sneeze or misfortune on djab. I thought voodoo was fairytale and my mother was paranoid.
