My own elevator - A childhood dream came true.
- Inside size 2.4´ x 2.95´ x 6.5´ (74cm x 90cm x 2m)
- Hoist capacity 660lbs (300 kg) 1200W
- cabin light 2 x 0.75W LED spot
- speed: 34ft/min (10m/min) (12.5 sec per ride)
- The noisiest and slowest elevator in town :o)

im 13 years old it has always been a childhood dream to build my own elevator.....this summer i am planning to build a dumbwaiter tho since i dont have room for a home elevator

I think you should use interlocks and door contacts (even inner doors) to increase safety. And making a thyristor VSD would not be a bad idea! But nice project, btw.

This is using an interupter switch on the door. All other switches are secondary to this door switch. If door is closed evelator operates, if you for example call the elevator to the lower level when the door is open, it will not respond. I am building my own elevator which is similar, but using a steel cage frame, counter weights and wireless phone. It is a 3000 lb. electric hoist which is 120 volts 20 amp, but I have incorporated an inverter and 2 855 amp/hour (cranking power) DC batteries.

cool ! I am wondering if the safety rules were considered. I see single wire which is not usually. Does it have breaks to prevent free falling? Do you think that wooden frame stable enough to handle this motion for long time

No interlock to prevent door from opening when the car isn't there and no broken cable safety, the bracing dosen't seem to good, no guide rails, no counterweight. How does your inshurence provider feel about this unit.

Pls, how did you programm the buttons? With this type of cable hoist, we must stay pressing the button... And in your elevator, with the same motor, you just have to press one time the button... Strange!

I live in Greece and 'cause of crise and misery[planted by globalization..anyway] i study about the way to blow-up my head ...but i 'm sure that this elevator is the best killer ,it includes 100 reasons of accidents... you aren't a proffesional ,so read and ask more 'cause you've to think the others....really friendly ,keep on homemade but under full saftness.[sorry for my english level].
