Pichu is still an exceptional high tier, close to top tier. But yeah he was still nerfed too hard. The self damage increase was absolutely brutal. I want pichu to be top tier, he's sooooooooo fun to watch. They should reduce self damage back to pre patch, that alone will push him solidly into top tier

Guy Andrews pichu and bayo weren’t on the same level. At its peak there were like 4+ bayos in top 8 of like most tournaments. Top players were getting hit once by bayo and it turned into them losing their stock. There’s no equivalent of that in ultimate.

Niani White nah, the reason pichu is worse now is because of the hurt box changes. If they were to revert only the hurt box change and leave the current self damage, he’d easily be top 5. That and f tilt, which was an extremely safe kill option, something pikachu doesn’t have, was taken away.

Niani White when pichu had a smaller hurtbox, he wasn't 2 framed so often, fell out of combos more often, and was harder to hit. The larger hurt box on top of the extra self damage really hurt pichu, and made his disadvantage state pretty abysmal. The real thing that hurt pichu was his f tilt nerf though, as it was his only real advantage over pikachu. That move killed at 100 at the ledge, 2 framed, and came out incredibly fast. The fact that pichu had a consistent and easy kill option over pikachu was huge, and before the nerf he was top 3 without a doubt. That being said, who did you think was better than pichu before the nerfs? The only 2 characters I can even think of are snake and joker.

@@dabilahror6106 Nerfs in order of impact 1) increased self damage 2) losing f tilt as his ONLY reliable kill option ( d tilt Bair isn't even in the same league of safety or simplicity) 3) size increase/shield glitch ( which is an annoying issue but with all 3 combined he isn't even a top tier any more. I have personally at about 23rd....some have him at 20 some have him at 30) Before the nerfs I had him at 7th to 10th....leaning more towards 10th. The top Pichu's were Void, Nakat, Nietono and Captain L......there results reflect him being about 10th. Could be argues a little higher but definitely not top 5. Before the nerfs his worth was in the fact that he had good match ups in the very top tier even if he had the most bad matches with mid tiers. He beat Palu,Wolf, Pika,Fox, Rob, PT, Ike, ZSS( now he loses to Wolf, Pika is a disaster and Palu is even and ZSS is questionable ) He lost to Snake, Olimar, Peach, Lucina, Chrom, Wario, Pacman, Duckhunt Peach wasn't quite as bad and Inkling was considered evenish even though Void hadn't beaten Cosmos since before Summit. That wasn't his problem though.....he also lost to Shulk, struggles with Mario, Greninja, Villager, Samus, Kirby, G&W, Yoshi, Ness, struggles with Puff and Zelda, DDD, making bracket results extremely inconsistent. Now all the matches have gotten harder.......with some switching to losing. So to answer your question before the nerfs I had it as Snake, Olimar, Peach, Wolf, Wario, PT, Inkling , Lucina, ZSS ( not really ordered) all above Pichu. Now it's more like this 1)Joker 2) ZSS 3) Peach 4)Palu 5)PT 6)Snake 7) Wario 8)Pika 9)Wolf 10)Inkling Olimar Shulk Fox Lucina Mr.G&W Rob Mario Megaman Pacman Chrom Roy (Pichu) #22ish Greninja Yoshi

The current Pichu's are Void, RFang, Blacktwins and Nietono........the 1st 3 (can) make top 8s but that's it....Nietono is thr only one that's been winning anything and that's against suspect competition.

It's to determine seed, everyone still starts in winners after pools then any loss sends you to winners. After that any loss and you're out.
