Whatever happened to games like this. It had such charm with awe and wonder. And a cool story line. Seems like these games are none existent nowadays.

Am I the only one who is dumbfounded by the amount of detail that goes into this? Like wtf how do they find out about ALL these glitches and execute all of them perfectly? Is speed running like a sport? Why are there people in the audience?
@ESAMarathon4 жыл бұрын
That's the speedrunning community for you! Amazing and helpful group of people. This video is from ESA Summer 2018. It's the largest yearly meetup for the community outside of North America. So speedrunners from all different games comes here and together raise large amounts of money for charity through showcasing their favorite games and glitches.

By enacting "Zombie glitch" you partially transform into one of the Sand Monsters - that's why they ignore you. Only Dagger of Time in your possession protects you from complete transformation. But with the blessing of Water Goddess, you can restore your humanity by drinking water. (Lore-friendly explanation)

I love their reaction to skipping the 4 rod moon puzzle. I only played warrior within, bought collection on steam and just experienced that part today.

Cant understand why the audience is so passive the run is very good and the skips are amazing Love gdq but love esa even more for running games like that

Pardon my confusion, but is this a TAS, a video of a series of human speedrun segments, or something else?

What happened to these games? The full polished and finished games we all used to enjoy?
@gildarmesh38096 жыл бұрын
on my second playthrough with no glitches (because I didn't know them) and about 6 years ago at this point my runtime was only a little over 12 hours... I think I can get it down to 40 min def... maybe... probably... I can try... get off my back
8:43 is that not considered a zip? i mean i know of the "standard" one where you crouch a lot and rewind, but this still looks pretty zippy to me
@toca_speedruns6 жыл бұрын
The term "zip" in this game specifically refers to the glitch where one overloads the rewind system and moves during rewinding. The name admittedly can be confusing with the first person glitch/box teleport around, but it's what people came up when zipping was discovered so we go with it at this point (a better name for zipping which was proposed at some point was "zooming" so the category would be "Any% Zoomless", which would circumvent the name problem) :)
@stefanradebach2889 Жыл бұрын
It's kinda funny how he managed to finish the game in just 1 hour without any zips compared to Henneko who struggled a lot with zipping due to how finicky and unreliable it is as well as the crashes, one that cost 10 minutes of time.

Sands of Time was generation defining in its storytelling and the way the gameplay meshed so well with the narrative. If you'd like to these concepts critiqued for over 90 minutes or need some background noise, consider giving my Sands of Time story analysis a watch! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH-5mKWgademos0

Super Mario Bros, 1985, is considered the hottest Speedrun ever. Classic always have a high replay value and are more likely to be a good speedrunning game.

If you want to try the game for yourself they're a few dollars each on steam right now. They have a bit of jank due to higher framerates than they're supposed to run at, but the sands trilogy still remains some of my favorite games ever from childhood to now.
