I always say a good sermon is a sermon that convicts your heart to put away sin and make life style changes. Just the introduction bit was already enough for me to make a life style change ...my non holy mobile phone. I find it an handy study tool but I do admit I tend to read SOP when the sermon are bit flat so now I leave it at home. I understand, my brother....I just think that it sounds similar to being "proud" to be a Christian. I knew a woman in the church who said, "I am so proud to be a Seventh-day Adventist". I knew her for over 40 years and I, along with many others, thought she was a conniving and underhanded woman. She was a diligent vegetarian, but I never trusted her. Many are proud to be Adventist, but not humble "in the sight of the Lord"; and how few even know their Bibles or any details of the Spirit of Prophecy. They may be heavy into health reform but are not kind, polite, or courteous. This is my take on the issue.
