I appreciate that you did some actual cooking in this video. So many stove reviews just do a boil test.

Watched this the other day and just left Sportsman's Warehouse with one. I've been wanting to get into alcohol stoves and this seemed like a great way to do it. Cooking eggs on that big ol cast iron pan sold me on the setup!

I have had this set for 5 yrs. It is wonderful! While I'm heating water instead of putting the 2nd pot on as a lid I put a 6 inch aluminum disposable pie plate over the water. It fits perfectly. Then I can put my small can of beans or whatever in the plate and it acts as a double boiler. I also use a wind screen made from an oven liner from the dollar store. I cut it to size, roll it smooth and then just curl it up to also nest inside the larger pot. This kit rocks!!!

Great to see you're not just trying to boil water with it but actually cook with it too. The only thing I wish you demonstrated was how well the pan that comes with the set performed as opposed to using a cast iron pan. Great video

I own that same Esbit cook kit. If you place the lid/skillet right side up on the lower pot you can cook two extra large eggs or three smaller eggs. That let's you cook while your water boils for coffee. I have only used the alchohol trangia burner, not the tablets. I use denatured alcohol fuel, not heat. I don't mind the sut - it's a right of passage thing.☕🥓🥞🍳🌭🍜🥣 all good.

Its funny you made this video it's like you read my mind. I just added this stove to my amazon cart last night. I think I'll go ahead and purchase it now after seeing your review. I have a twig stove which I love and use when I don't cook over the main fire. Now I want to go make breakfast. Great video as usual have a great day.

Hm ... I love poached eggs. Poached eggs paired with buttered toast make a comforting breakfast any day of the week. Let'sTry it! Pour 1/2 inch of water in a shallow pan. Break an egg in an oiled individual egg tart mold or oiled small metal sauce cup. Place it inside the pan with water. Let it simmers and cook for few minutes, as you like; running yolk, medium or hard cooked egg. If you use a cover, it cooks faster! Better that cooked eggs ... No need to peel shells. Have fun! Thinking about leaving the Wolf Range top 6 burners and cook eggs for breakfast on the table, using this set. 😊

Esbit is nice, but nothing compares to the 1942 Millers Griller stove. Model Two Person Base Camp Kitchen, and you can grill, fry, bake, roast, smoke, hot water reservoir, multi fuel, including Esbit tabs and alcohol, shelf space for condiments, and all smaller than a case for a cordless drill.

Oh man you're just like me, i cant eat scrambled eggs without cheese, i also love to add a good amount of salt and a little pepper. You should try making them with mexican or taco shredded cheese, i was surprised how good that turned out and its a nice change up every now and then.

Another excellent video, sir. Well done. But I was thinking. Looking at the configuration of the 2 pots I wondered if one pot would fit into the other (right side up) to use as a double boiler. Why not check it out? Thanks.

I saw the other video you did on the 3 piece tab fuel Esbit and the Stanley SS pot. So now I see you have the 5 piece Esbit cook set, could you (or would you) do a video comparing the 2 systems to each other as well as the Stanley pot. Compare the the main pots to each other size etc. The size of the stove parts to each other, (would the pot from the 3 piece fit on the 5 piece stove?) and again if or how the Stanley fits both.

I've had one of these for a number of years; i want to get another one. Q: Do the instructions say to put the esbit stove into the solid fuel holder? I've never done that before. thx
@simon40437 жыл бұрын
Great video, but I still think it's hard to better the Trangia system which channels the hot gas up the side of the pot, and has a better windscreen. With the Esbit kit, the windscreen blocks the rising hot gas from contact with the side of the pot, so the only heating effect is on the bottom I've owned and used all types of stoves, but my 40 year old Trangia is still the one I ALWAYS pack

I think it's priced reasonably. I've had this cook set about a year and a half. For a single person hike, it suits my needs. Also, I'm a fan of the little Esbit stove, compared to the Trangia. I love the foldable handle on the snuffer cap.

the bottom of the pot corresponds to the pot stand till ya put the spirit burner or the esbit plate and cube in it its just a stand and the reverse is true the alcohol burner is just a burner nota stove till combined I discussed this in the vid I did on my pot stand I made from computer parts the next evolutionary step in thinking outside the box BOX STOVE kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHKscmSlrbCib6M

Olive oil is really not that good for cooking cause its smoking point is pretty low (about 375F) and will make your kitchen more greasy. Use vegetable or corn oil instead.
