Esbit Store: amzn.to/3Qouf3I
The #esbit #titanium #stove is my go-to for backpacking, along with the 14g Esbit Solid Fuel Tablets, which can be stored inside your pot. This titanium stove is ridiculously light at just 11g, and foldable, which makes it even smaller and easy to pack. I use it with a titanium .9L pot and some aluminum foil folded to use as a windscreen.
A single 14g Esbit solid fuel tab will typically boil 2 cups of water (give or take depending on wind conditions and temperature, etc.) It’s easy to work out how many fuel tabs to bring. Esbit claims a 12min burn time which may be less if it’s windy. Yes, it will take longer to boil water than a Jet Boil for example, but there’s no guessing if you’ll have enough fuel in the gas canister, and the Esbit system is much lighter for, let's say, a 4-day backpacking trip.
The Esbit solid fuel that I use comes in a box of 12x14g tablets. They work at altitude and sub-zero temperatures, but I would bring a different stove for serious winter camping. They do have quite a strong smell yet don’t have visible smoke. You’ll have better luck lighting the fuel tablets out of the wind with a lighter, versus a match. If you don’t use a whole fuel tablet to boil your water, blow it out and next time, relight with an additional fuel tab on top.
My husband and I have been using the Esbit titanium stove with solid fuel for many years and we’ve been happy with this system.
