Great review. I’m a friend of Justin’s but that aside I’m very proud of this watch. It feels like my Pepsi GMT but I won’t be heartbroken if it gets stolen or lost! Ski. Fly. Mountain and do dinner. All good and everywhere MEN want to see and hold this watch. Justin is a rockstar and your review taught me a lot. Thanks!

I picked one up second hand a few weeks ago, and it hasn’t left my wrist. You can pick out small flaws, but the overall impact is this feels like a watch that can be the most worn or signature piece in your core collection. It’s not about checking boxes, it’s about how it straddles often contradictory attributes. Modern yet vintage, moderately sized yet strong wrist presence, unique yet familiar (somehow those familiar details are tweaked just enough to be slightly quirky). I am very excited about the future of this brand, but for now I am enjoying the Skin Diver immensely.

What a great pickup second hand, not many of them around! Thanks for watching and wear your skindiver well, fellow appreciator.

Thank you for your review on this particular watch, you always do a great job. I totally agree, it is a work of functional beauty. Am considering getting the PVD coated version. Its a toss up between this and the all black PVD Squale 50 Atmos.

Thank you 🙂 Have you also seen the brushed metal bezel? I have an itch to scratch there too, it’s such a gorgeous design in all iterations 👍

I will not burn my hands at attempting to tackle the comparisons to your wife, but I'm happy for you to have such an experience with your wife though she might be concerned about being compared to a watch experience! Enough about that. A skin diver is the only diver I'd be likely to give a go, but my one and only try, while not negative, has not convinced me I should include divers in my collecting. It's good to have such limits, though that darn SD1 from Dietrich keeps drawing me in. That said, this Marin was one that from first glance grabbed my attention and also seems to keep doing so wherever our paths cross on the internet. Your footage further enhances this impression. I would have appreciated more side views and also a better view of the 'floating' fit on the wrist. I do like a bit of polish, so it's a pity it wasn't in view more. A big part of why this diver does attract me is the clean bezel. A big and bold yet minimalist bezel like seen on some Unimatics should be similarly clean, but doesn't do it for me. Oddly the narrow strip design (also seen on Unimatic btw) on the currently launching Montoir also attracts. Bold numerals on rotating bezels are almost certain to put me off. There is balance here, and that includes the rational overuse of printing and the date. Both details that, like you, could put me off. I think I'm the case of the date, it may have something to do with a nice visual tension introduced on the dial by the asymmetry in markers which is then balanced by the angular crown guards on the case. At any rate, I get your love for this thing, even if I will keep the category on the back burner.

Thank you as always, and my wife had no issues with the comparison haha. It was a bit of a miss to not show how it wears from the side, thanks for the feedback.

@@EsbjornWristwatchReviews I am especially relieved about your wife. She sounds too precious an ally to lose! With your commentary I was living up to those side views on and off wrist, but I think there was only one shot briefly showing the polish. Never mind. I think most will have been glad the polish wasn't overemphasized. Many get worked up about a bit of polish on a dive watch...

Looks good. Missed a chance to outline the date window same as 9 and 6 for symmetry. Not a fan of the bezel. Love your videos.

Its a nice looking watch, the luggs are not my preferred, and your reviews are top, matches your calm, secure voice 👍🏻👍🏻.. The price 🤔, at least a steelbraclet ( BoR) with on the fly adjustment had been justified the high price..895$ at maximum.. På återseende 🙏

Good review of a very striking watch but I can’t believe the glaring oversight of not framing the date window in black to maintain the symmetry. That is an instant deal breaker for me.

Very nice, but the fact that they didn’t put a black surround to the date window is a major design flaw.

I'm not sure that it is a "flaw". Leaving some negative white space in that section adds some calm to the dial. Bolding the date window with a black outline in my opinion is unnecessary.
