Airan has sent in the first prototype of the Airain Sous-Marine Re-Edition. The watch was produced first in the sixties as one of these typical skin dive watches. The Re-Edition brings the vintage flair back, but in combination with modern components. The historic Parmentier crown was allowed to stay.

It strongly resembles the Le Forban Brestoise that, it must be said, is powered by the Miyota 8215, which many will consider an inferior movement, but the Le Forban has the same kind of pedigree, looks A LOT like the Airain (or the other way round) and is a jaw-dropping 1,255 euros cheaper than this watch....

Yeah, i would have ditched the crown idea. Thank god the movement has 68 hrs of power reserve. If i bought this watch it would stay on the winder.

Love the chunky arabics. I think the ocean green/teal is eye-catching - though I'm not opposed to the big second hand on the black dial.

A nice watch indeed, I am interested as well. One thing: plexi and 200m WR is very much possible. All Casio G-Shock square models have 200m and plexi glass.

Was lucky enough to get in on the first round pre-order. The prototype looks really, really fantastic. Question, the original photos show a red date wheel but this one is black. Do we know the color of the final prodution?

But 48.2mm lug to lug! Though the Seestern is 39/40mm case the lug to lug is 45.5mm, so actually more wearable and less than $200 with a glide lock bracelet and applied numerals - no contest.

Too bad… it is an awesome watch. I love all Dan’s offerings and his personalized service is excellent. He even answers e-mail questions himself. Maybe understanding his role in watch collecting over many years will make the name on the dial more palatable? 😊

@@edteach3r I think most who know about Dan Henry watch brand are initiated with his role in the watch community and collecting history. Despite that, Many feel the same way that I do about his name on the dial. I’m tempted to get it customized to alter the dial. There’s a reason why Christopher ward has begun to remove their branding from the dial recently.

@@albundy3929 Agreed that the name on the dial is a deterrrent to buyers. I am 65 years old and, being a dinosaur and certainly in the minority, I don't quite get the fixation on brand names (silly Aliexpress names being the exception). Personally, I like the names of the creators and actually stopped buying CW watches since they became mainstream. My 2017 CW C60 Trident Pro 600 (V2) is a prized possession and will never leave my collection due to its unique character. As I said, I know I am in the minority.... by far. Thanks for the chat.

@@IDKline more of a comment on all "new" watches which bank heavily on nostalgia. The easiest job in the watch industry has to be "dive-watch designer" nowadays. Watch people freak out when you try and attempt something new. $$$$
