Even when he said he stood above all the races, he immediately bodied angels and demons with ease. Vegeta is a good example of a prideful character. He thinks he's better than everyone else, gets his ass beat, then has an excuse. Because theres just no way he could lose if the fight was fair, right? Escanor wore the mantle of pride, but underneath, he was simply confident.
