In my utmost humble opinion. “ Nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence” “ Advanced are basics done correct” As an former security guard, the last thing one thought about was variety for the sake of entertainment or “ playing the game” Berimbolo to donkey guards to flying armbars are great, Don’t mistake Intent, I enjoy BJJ immensely, and it’s always fun to “ play said game” learning it all and comprehend the depth of the art, but having sound fundamentals that are time tested is beyond imperative. They actually saved my life on multiple occasions, as simplicity is the key to efficiency, and this one may observe even in higher level competitions, positional/ situational/ contextual awareness/ escapes are usually the path most taken where the most time tested techniques dictates the win of the day ” Guillotines/ Mata Léon/ Darce/ armbars/ Key locks “ etc even more so when punches/ headbutts/ biting ( self defense) / Ground&Pound ie MMA is an factor. I Like Matt Thornton’s analogy akin to that of an tree, the roots and the trunk/ stem is the base and foundation which without the system cannot exist, from there one gets the branches and in turn the foliage that makes up the units that completes the whole. Appreciations for taking the time to share with all of us, an honor to be able to observe and learn from peers such as yourself. Sincere regards. Fellow martial artist. Tom Framnes. Norway.

@@stasisjiujitsuandyoga My sincere pleasure Sir, appreciations for your kind compliment, truly, what I love about the BJJ community is the willingness to share/ learn and grow, so it is practitioners such as myself who owe our sincere gratitude to highly skilled individuals as yourself, that are willing to invest/ record and share content willingly , and that is not something i take for granted nor as an given. Again my sincere appreciations. You’ve definitely earned an subscriber, and I’m highly looking forward to be able to learn and glean more 😀👍🏻!

What if you're getting punched as soon as he mounts you. Your gonna eat at least four punches or elbows to the head while you're bringing your elbows inside to stop his hips advance. Enough to KO you.

Of course the threat of being hit is there. But bare in mind that if I don't make quick action I'm going to get hit regardless. Might as well work my way towards an escape as fast as I can. Another thing to note is this technique incentiveses the guy to post his hands on the ground. Which will reduce the volume of strikes landed. He needs to post for balance otherwise he's hitting his face on the mat. Mount is always a tricky position to navigate. The quicker you escape the better. Obviously without making any huge mistakes
