Thanks for setting the bar really high for the rest of us. I thought the last video of the base was awesome but the top is even better in my opinion. Now I have to get a cnc router.

Really really cool. Looking forward to seeing how many parallax layers you can stack at into one unit in the future lol
@GratuitousSets6 жыл бұрын
Yes! We also need to do some testing to see if there is any bleed when layers are stacked close together. I have some ideas... 😏

I'm sure it does as with all of your creations. You guys make it look easy. Wish I could intern for you, for free. Yes, that's how good you guys are.
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
EDITING makes it look easy! Lol- nobody would watch a solid week of parts preparation, sourcing, cutting, drilling, tapping, carving, sanding, painting, testing... so that we have all the parts ready to go for the entertaining assembly portion! Hehehe
@twistedendingsproductions27827 жыл бұрын
Actually, I would as it would give me better insight to the actual techniques you use to create. It would also allow me to see your entire shop. Speaking of which, when are you putting together a shop walk-through video?
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
I promise we will get it done- a bit trickier than we thought, trying to make it not boring for everyone else. We are working the installation right now, so we aren't it the studio. It'll be a few weeks before we can get back into it. I'll try to push it up in priority :-D

I have to say that everything you do is cooler that the previous one. I'm subscrived since your first or second video and man, I am really glad I did! I've been building an Space Ship themed ER for the last year (yes, I'm really slow hahahah) and men do I know how much work is involved! You make really cool stuff and your videos are really well edited, congratulations ;)

Time for us to lower the bar. Lol Thanks :-) We'll keep trying, and our editor will really appreciate the compliment. We often hand him a disjointed nightmare of incoherent raw footage:-/

Where can you get those types of acrylic panels?? are the patterns and lines made on request?

We make them ourselves so, yes we can engrave the acrylic however you like😁 Give me a call if we can help!

Do you guys consider yourselves as having jobs? I mean, you're having WAAAY too much fun with this. Seriously, who do you think enjoys the experience more, you or the players? (Just discovered your channel, guys. Love your work. Cheers).

SOMETIMES it’s work (We try not to film the boring stuff), but I can’t describe how wonderful it feels the rest of the time. I like seeing the jaw drops- lol

Great videos and very passionate, You guys have the same sort of passion that makes people watch top gear. May i ask what cnc machine you use.?
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks! That's high praise 😁 Our CNC machine comes from a company called "Industrial CNC". It is basically a Chinese machine assembled in the US. I would NOT recommend one. We plan to replace it with a higher quality machine when we're able.

Hi guys, First of all, this is amazing. Great inspirations for all of us. I'm thinking of doing something similar, but I can't find the info on how you made those signs on the glass. If you can let us know it would be highly apreciated. :) Thank you for these great videos!
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Bogdan! It's acrylic (not glass) and we etched (really engraved) it by designing all of the graphics with the computer and using an engraving bit in our CNC machine. You'll see the same techniques the more recent SPACESHIP videos. I've seen people on KZbin scratch the design with a sharpened stylus. It's not nearly as clean, but it's functional. If you'd like, I can email you closeup photos if it helps. Lemme know if this helps or if you have any other questions :-)

It could also be done (very carefully) with a Dremel tool or a similar rotary tool
@milosjeftic15107 жыл бұрын
woow , very good job! i could not do it like you did and i realllly wont it :) what is the thickness of acrylic, depth of engraved lines and shape of cnc "drill"? TNX
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
We used 3/8" acrylic (sorry for inches) we used a 60 degree "V" bit and we set the depth of the engraving by the line width we desire. Because it is a v bit, the deeper the cut, the wider the line.
@GratuitousSets7 жыл бұрын
The 3/8 acrylic is a result of the LED tape being 3/8 wide
