I skipped on this game because although i liked ETDC thought the combat was too basic, but this looks abit more evolved, might be worth a buy, cheers

Yes it definitely has a bit more going on than ETDC - the combat, as you say, and some of the cards I encountered seemed to have more complexity and require choices to be made more frequently.
