This is easily one of the most well written songs that Craig's Escape The Fate has ever written. Such a powerful message.

Song reminds me of my mother, she's been a alcoholic for almost all my life, but this song makes me remember the good times, and then it also puts me where im at in my life with her, the alcohol controls her and never will I ever see my real mom again, but I really want to thank ETF for this song, I feel like it was made about me, and she always says I never care about her but if I didn't I wouldn't have listen to this on repeat the last 3 hours crying thinking of old memories to when she was a normal mom!

I'm sorry to hear you have to go through that. You are not alone, my dad is an alcoholic and he never calls me unless he wants to borrow money or get something from me. Sometimes i call him just to talk and then after a minute he tells me ''I'll talk to you later i gotta go'' and never calls me back. Shit is hard but never lose hope! I know how it feels and so does anyone in that situation. Seeing someone you love, especially a parent like that is no fun

This songs reminds me of back when I was in my dark place in life, grand father passed my gf and I broke up and our child was living with grandparents and my gf got herself in a bad living situation I got really bad into daily drinking doing drugs on a daily usually mixing substances. I had myself in a hole and was dragging others down with me. I had to help myself out. Now days the girl who broke up with me were engaged im clean I'm working making a decent pay cheque and I come home to my fiance and son everyday. Things are going good and people who are struggling trust me if you put in work things get better it won't take a day it probably won't take a month but if you want what you love bad enough you can also turn things around.

My wife and I saw these guys in concert, last night. This song really stood out, from their others. I listened and watched this morning and I realized why. I married an alcoholic. Didn't know how bad until we finally hit the wall, 3 years in. Fights were almost every day and getting worse. I hated myself because I thought I was the cause of them and hadn't changed from my past. So I left for the weekend, knowing that when I came back I'd be seeking a divorce. When I walked into the cabin, after making the long drive back. I didn't want to, but knew I had to face my failure. She was there, sitting in the kitchen. Her belongings already in boxes, in the corner of the living room. We made small talk for a minute, both admitting we were done. But, she said that there was something very important she needed to confess. It was then that I discovered how far bad her drinking had become. The hidden lows, I knew nothing about, as it was her secrets. I was floored and overcome with sadness and anger. But then, she said she had sought help. After a final night of her hating me for leaving, drinking herself to another blackout, she awoke and knew it was all on her. She poured out every bottle, cleared out her hidden stashes and went to seek help. At that moment, she was 2 days sober and apologized for making me the villain and took responsibility. That meant so much. So I told her to hold off on leaving. We'd take our marriage day by day, like she was doing with her sobriety. That was over 3 years ago. We survived.

for anybody who wants to know the lyrics to this amazing song You used to be so fearless You used to be so strong What ever happened to the one That could do no wrong? How did you get so careless? How did you get so numb? Are you the only lie you're running from? I wish that I could hate you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eye I know I'm watching you drown I wish that I could save you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eyes I know deep inside They're holding you up, Holding you up is breaking me down You don't gotta be perfect You're not too far gone But if you can't help yourself Then you won't move on The world's not out of focus It's just what you've become Don't you see you're the lie you're running from? I wish that I could hate you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eye I know I'm watching you drown I wish that I could save you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eyes I know deep inside They're holding you up, Holding you up is breaking me down I wish that I could hate you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eye I know I'm watching you drown I wish that I could save you I wish that I could start by cutting you out Cause when I look in your eyes I know deep inside They're holding you up, Holding you up is breaking me down

This video hits me hard. I grew up with my mum being an alcoholic, and I tried so hard to help her even though I was only a kid, I'd look after her when she passed out drunk, I'd desperately try to hide bottles or pour them down the sink. And the most horrible part is that now I'm starting to go down the same path. I just hope I can break free from it and live a different life to her.
@claudiahollis74248 жыл бұрын
Abi Zoey I'm sure you can break away from that path, I believe you can. Every time you hear this song remember that isn't the sort of life you want for yourself :)
@franciscomarquezleon37578 жыл бұрын
I went through the same thing between 14-19, today I'm 25. It was 5 years of watching my mom throw her life away glass by glass, but there's always hope! Be strong, God loves you and your family, you are NOT alone. Light always comes, there is always calm after the storm, darkness is not forever. Have faith, God can change your life around
@SawakoKuronuma28 жыл бұрын
Abi Zoey The only reason you're following her path is because you're focusing on it so much, you love her so much you want to fix her before you start focusing on yourself, but the only way you can help her is when you help yourself first. Be strong for the both of you

Reading the comments, I feel for these stories people share. The lyrics don't seem to apply to just one thing, they apply to anything that tears a loved one apart, from substance abuse and alcoholism, to depression....very powerful indeed. Most of us have been in that mindset at least once in our lives.

I knew there was a reason I never came back to this video. My grandmother was an alcoholic, very severely so. She was terrible when drunk, acted like she could do no wrong, and was even physically abusive if the fights between me or my grandpa and her got bad enough. She drank every. single. day. Beer was like a life-line to her, despite the fact that she vomited every day because of it. But I loved her. She wasn't an abusive person by nature. She was the type of woman who cared for every single person who breathed in her general direction, she was the neighborhood's grandma and even my friends adored her. She was the type of person who gave off witchy-vibes now that i think about it. She was a very spiritual and superstitious woman, nothing scared her, she held spiders the size of her entire hand and commanded stray or loose dogs with no fear. She took care of all of the stray cats and even fed squirrels daily in her back yard. She was sassy as all hell and cursed like a sailor. Had beautiful blonde-ginger hair, bright blue eyes, and freckles from head to toe. She passed away several years ago to a tumor in her throat. I don't even remember the exact date, which is probably due to my unhealthy coping mechanism that consists of completely forgetting she ever died and accepting that she's only a part of my dreams now.
