I've been following Trivium since "Ascendancy". Their tenacity and hard work with constantly putting out amazing material, album after album is something that I admire so much. Some of the songs are great, like Down from the sky, or the 1st track(I don't remember the name because that album insisted on having almost all of the song's names be longass & strange titles, as well as most of the songs being too long), but also most of the songs on Shogun hopped around too much with seemingly little to no real structure of the song, like Oh this riff sounds cool, so let's add that but only for like 20 seconds tops and then throw it back in randomly, 7 & ½ minutes into the song! 😂 They just didn't sound as epic, structured, memorable or straightforward as they did on Ascendancy, which IMO is their best album! Ascendancy also had better melody. And it had big hits like Dying in Your Arms, Ascendancy, Washing Away Me In The Tides, Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr (a bit long of a title, but rhymes & is interesting & fairly easy to remember), Like Light To Flies, oh and an amazing cover of Metallica's Master of Puppets! 👍 (on the Delux edition) maybe give that album another go.
