Hearing about what happened to Nex Benedict in Oklahoma, I immediately thought about this video because the premise of the MV is the exact situation that happened to them. I realized that even 10 years later, the message of the video is still the same: hate and violence breeds hate and violence in a cyclical fashion. Nothing will change unless we hold people accountable for their actions and make changes to stop this from happening. RIP Nex 💔

Something I noticed At the beginning was that the teacher was teaching Spanish. And the sentence was "where's the exit" I felt as the kid was asking that question. As if the kid was begging for an exit to this situation or life. The second teacher was music. That explained that with music I can escape the world. Cause when you have music everything else is shut down. That's why the music teacher couldn't hear him cause he was too into the music. This is just a thought that popped up in my head. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I feel the beginning stands for. Edit: I commented this when I was 13, didn’t expect such great feedback, 19 now and life still hasn’t changed much, this song hits harder than when I first listened to it

Those people were kids when I was a little kid/baby, yet they were almost adults, but never got to experience adulthood. when i was a councilor at a center for troubled youth (first job when i was 21) i had a lot of bullies come to my office and i would talk to them and i always asked why they were doing what they were doing. som told me it's none of my business and some didn't want to talk about it. i showed a few of them this and one said "why does the dad take it out on his son it's not fair to him he didn't do anything wrong" and i said "well what have you been doing to the other kids" and he looked at me and started crying saying he was beaten as a kid too and that he didn't know any other way to handle it. when he told me he started to break down and luckily i was there to help him. he then apologized to everyone he bullied and started seeing a therapist. and now he's doing just fine with lots of friend, and some are his ex victims. it makes me happy to see that i could help one person. i know that's not a lot but that's one potential life that could have been saved and that's something to be proud about.

Lane Walls Yes, which is the victim becomes the abuser. We literally said the same thing. Everyone except the boy who was bullied in the bathroom (and as far as we know) the original abusers of the father) were victim to the abuse/violence from another person. The kid being bullied in the bathroom can be assumed to be dead, given he was not present for dinner and the mother was crying and being held by her husband.

The next day, we came back to class after all having gone home and watched the video since the teacher wouldn't show it, and the whole class was silent for the entire period. My teacher actually made an announcement about the video to address the silence. "I'm sure you all saw the video that JamesFame wanted to show, and I know that the video has a very powerful message behind it. Hopefully it's a lesson we can all learn from and avoid"

Almost ten years later, I still come back to this music video. It brings me to tears every. single. time. Frankie Nasso did such a fantastic job with the directing of this video. Every emotion and movement is captured so well, the lighting, the editing shots...the young boy did so damn good acting in this video. Its so good it feels real. It feels like I am actually watching a child be murdered in cold blood and seeing the family changed forever because of it. Its so scary when you realize this is reality for a lot of families out there. Poor children never being able to grow up and live full happy lives... I grew up abused by my step mom, and she was abandoned by her own mother as a child and had to be raised in an extremely abusive foster home. She took all that pain and envy out on me every day. The fact that so many people relate to this message TO THIS DAY screams that the world needs to change.

The song is telling everyone to stop the pointless violence the bullying is a small part of the song compared to this.

I'm not sure if there is a lot of typo's in this comment or not so i misinterpret what you said plz forgive me. Bullying isn't a "FORM" of because violence is purely physical and bullying can hurt people emotionally as well as physically. but you are correct on the fact that the song does address bullying but more importantly is violence itself which takes its part in things like pointless murders aggravated assault and other crimes that hurt people unnecessarily because they are upset when there is better ways too handle your problems despite how some people feel trapped like there is no way out and don't have a choice..

For those who don't understand the video ~ The victims father was bullying a guy at work. So he took it out on his son by abusing him and hitting him. And that boy, took it out on another boy at his school (the victim) and killed him. However it turns out the victims father who bullied the boy's father was his dad. That's why at the end it says that violence is a vicious circle... Because when people hurt others, it doesn't stop there. It goes on, and on. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

I honestly hate bullying to a fiery passion in my heart. I've been bullied since pre-school, I've had kids scratch me, spit on me, and sit on my head and roll it on the ground. In 6th grade, I was getting beat up by 3 body-builders. I had no friends to rely and lean on, and I've made 8 suicide attempts since. I felt like there was no way out other than the death of me, or someone else, so they locked me in a mental institution for a month in fear for even themselves. And it all stopped when I final started fighting back. I think the problem with this society is that we make kids think that if you just talk to the bully, they will stop. They will never stop until you start swinging back. Even if you lose, or you know that they will win, still fight for your well being. Making a t-shirt about bullying is not going to solve the problem, but instead inflate it. Take this from someone who has experienced this to it's fullest potential. It DOES end. It DOES go away, and it all starts with you, the victim.

This video is so meaningful and makes me cry. I am against bullying and this is outrageous. I really liked the song too. #RESPECT! I can't believe these things happen in real life. I wish we could do something about it. When the mother was crying it touched my heart.. Amazing video

Watching this video always makes me cry. Always. It's haunting, knowing things like this happen everyday in normal life. Its disgusting, wrong, and just plain evil. It's a vicious bullying circle. (in case some didn't get it the boy who died's father was the man from the butchers bullying the other man, so he technically killed his own son) I support all charities dealing with things like this and support people directly as well. Although I know it'll never stop completely, me, you, and everyone else can try damn well hard to save as many people as possible. So, as a great band once said, if someone is screaming, don't ignore them. Listen. And you might just save a life.

I cried when watching this and thought of my best friend, suicide isn't stupid, what IS stupid is making a person feel like the only way out of your torchure is through a blade or a rope. Just my opinion :3 .

I was a victim of bullying and always looked back with hate. When this I watched this vid for the first time i checked back up on Dean. Committed suicide. I used to hate him now i wonder if he was badly treated and took his anger out on me as a way of release. RIP man guess I'll never understand your side of the story.

Some people never relate to this cus its too loud and noisy but for me this is awareness for all people especially who experience and suffer physical and verbal abuse 😢
@jefferyneill2 ай бұрын
The problem with the world now is everything is considered bullying. Even if some has an opinion. Bullies are needed to make stronger people. Just cause you are abused doesn’t mean you have to do the same. You are in full control of your choices, if you give in to being abusive than that’s 💯 % on you

I can't stand bullies. They are just cold hearted people, that's all. Just because someone looks different, or acts different, or even made a few mistakes doesn't mean they deserve to be bullied. The saddest part about all this is people still say horrible things about the people who killed themselves. It's disgusting.

This is to anyone who suffers from any type of bulling and feel alone and like no one is there or cares. You are loved and you are cared for even though you don't know it. I've been bullied to the point that if anyone associated with me would be bullied as well. I know the pain of feeling alone and useless and unloved. My heart goes out to everyone and I love everyone so there you are loved. If you ever need someone to talk to leave me a message and we can talk privately or we can talk public so other people can help. I know it feels like there is never a escape but there is, and you can find a way.
