I don't understand why don't you just record the video and audio directly in the camera, if you use a single mic, single cam, and even the audio is recorded in analogue (transformed from digital to analogue and back)? Both the audio and video would end up on the SD card anyway. Why route it through an extra mixer and recorder? Your camera has no audio-in? If you had two cameras or mic, and you want to mix those into a single file (and don't want to edit afterwards), maybe.

I love the inclusion of the Atomos. Portability was the main reason I bought the Streamer X. Instead of the Atomos, I use my iPad Pro with Camo Studio so I can have a two camera setup if needed and it can record to an external ssd if needed. Great information!

Great video, as always! I don't know if you've seen Caleb Pike's (DSLR VIDEO SHOOTER) video on the monitor mount for the Rode Streamer X and the Ninja V. It's a 3d-printed baseplate with a monitor mount. It makes it into a really nifty setup! and eliminates the need for the mini-tripod for the monitor. the 3d-printed solution also has an optional caddy swapper that allows you to quickly go from recording to editing off the ssd

Kri - this setup looks kick a**. I do like the idea of always routing audio through the rode streamer or a rodecaster - mainly because I truly like how the rode consoles process this audio. Have you been just as pleased with the audio processing from the streamer x as on your rodecaster pro?
@kriedholm8 ай бұрын
Yeah, this one was fun to set up. The RCP2 and SX have the same preamp, which is amazing. I'm pleased with both, but will mention that if you want more finite audio settings and controls, the RCP2 (or duo) is the way to go.
@chrisronan8 ай бұрын
@@kriedholm appreciate the response. I’ll pull the trigger on the streamer x. Also have been quite happy with rose’s customer service over the years. They were good about honoring two replacements of my rcp2. While it was a brief pain, there was no hesitation from them which says a lot.

Thank you for the video, great information. I do pose the question, why go through the streamer x on the go, with no laptop? Why not capture on the camera, or atomos connected from camera for an (on the go) interview? What’s the extra benefits passing through the streamer x? Thank you
@kriedholm8 ай бұрын
Good question! In this case, I'm passing everything through the Streamer X so I can take advantage of the settings that the SX has to offer. From there, I record to the Atomos Ninja. There are a number of different ways you could do this, but this is the smallest I was able to put together with the gear I have.

Hi Kri, I love watching your videos! I’m wondering if I could connect the Stresmer X directly to the camera and a USB microphone like the Rode XDM-100 without using a recording device like the Ninja 5. Do you know if I could record my audio and video directly into a laptop? Thank you!

I believe your Analog Audio you are sending back to the Ninja V is going to be out of sync. You can correct it in the Ninja V. However if it works. 🙂

Nice set up. However, I am a little confused on what the streamer x offers you. It seems to me that the Ninja V does everything for you. Couldn't you simply cut the streamer x out of the setup? I am just curious and processing the workflow. Thanks.
@kriedholm9 ай бұрын
I think most people see the Streamer X as a streaming device only but you can really do so much with it. You can pre-program the pads to produce your entire video or show including set design, use multiple mic options, send signal to record or stream on a computer, and the list goes on. It’s fun experimenting with the possibilities and this is just one example. @evanthecameraman

Maybe I missed the point. Why aren't you recording directly to camera, avoiding both the streamer X and the Atomos Ninja? All you'd need instead was the wireless receiver connected to the camera.

I must have missed something. This looks like it’s doing the same thing as just having the camera by itself with a Rode GO mic or similar. I’m just not following the reason you add the X and Atomos and essentially complicate the workflow if all you’re aiming to do is record both audio and video into a single file.
