The room with three beds reminds me of an English fairytale, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” 🐻Goldilocks lay down on each of the beds belonging to the three bears. Daddy Bear’s bed was too hard, Mama bear’s bed was too soft, but Baby Bear’s bed was “just right.” I hope that your father had the “just right” bed. 🛌

Greetings from the Hudson Valley of New York. It is a sunny autumn day here, the type that can magically transport one to earlier, simpler times, just what your travels through the UK inspire. I live in a tiny hamlet overlooking the magnificnet Hudson River north of Manhattan. A village whose Victorian and Revolutionary homes evoke times past. A road called River Road snakes through the village and is the only thoroughfare connecting to the village north. As my husband and I, who are avid followers of yours, watched today, we thought how wonderful it would be if someone were to document the surrounding valley as your videos so beautifully do; however, sadly here in the U.S., despite the magnificent natural abundance, not much effort went into preserving the historical architecture that once dotted the countryside. I lived in the UK for many years; so, viewing your videos provides a connection to a place and time I sorely miss. You both appear to be the lovliest of people, which if there were more like you, woud make this world such a simipler and kinder place.

The Manor house in Coscombe was lovely. And the tour through Wells (what a grand cathedral indeed; and the choir sounded magnificent), the Vicar’s Close was charming (what a place to live!) and the Bishop’s Palace and gardens and home were very interesting and beautiful (I loved to see the dining hall all set up for dinner). It was very sweet to see you walking along with your father through the various places, Kirsten.

Underfloor heating or not, all I keep thinking is how cold it must be there! Interesting but not warm and comfortable enough for me! Glad you both enjoyed it though, and you say it was warm! I’m very surprised.I’ve never seen or heard of a Gurney stove before, I bet when all that cast iron heats up, the heat that throws off must be terrific.

Always such lovely properties you find to stay while visiting these wonderful villages. The history is so interesting, nothing like staying in a restored place built in the 1400's. Vicar's close, I'd love to see inside one if those homes, some of the front arches were just incredible. Again, thanks for having us tag along.

Although I prefer smaller and cozier cottages, this 15th century manor was no less impressive. With its huge ceilings and spacious rooms, it looks as if it can accommodate a lot more people than it is stated. Loved a glimpse of a beautiful cat and I'm glad you invited your lovely dad for a visit. Thank you for nearly half and hour of sheer escapism. 🤗
