wow, it looks like a lot has changed in Colombia. I was in Bogota and for a tiny bit Medellin about twenty years ago and any bus travel came with a warning about the possible cartel encounters. Soooo glad things have gotten better. The coffee region looks gorgeous.

Certainly it's much safer in Colombia now than 20 years ago, although we did need to be mindful when we spent the month in Medellin.

@@OurFreedomYears i can say the same about the US you need to be mindful when you are in a church, a college campus or a shooping mall , u can get caught in the middle of a mass shooting

I'm from Pereira, the most important city in the coffee region, it amazes me when foreign people say our landscapes are really beautiful, I always saw the landscapes in this region as pretty average.

WOW! You two have done it! You've created a vlog on a place most of us knew nothing about that looks fabulous and done it in your signature engaging way. By now, you two have this down: We know your individual personalities, your likes/dislikes and your adventurous spirit. Here, in this video, you brought it ALL together. I truly think this is your best yet and I'm a huge fan. Thank you!

Another great video of a beautiful area. The purple bananas really caught my attention. That was new to me. A quick Google search provided the following : They're a hybrid of two species of banana native to Southeast Asia - Musa balbisiana and Musa acuminata. Before they're fully ripe, they have an unusual blue-tinged peel due to their natural wax coating. Enjoy your wonderful travels.

So cool. I have a good friend who studied coffee finca culture for his M.A. thesis and he swears by Salento. Glad I got to see it through this. We are planning on being in the region on our drive around the World. I hope you like our geeky new channel name. We are rebranding to fit better with our mission to promote environmental and cultural preservation on our upcoming carbon-neutral UNESCO world tour. Cheers and keep up the fun. - Turtle

Hey there! I can't believe that we are in the same time zone!! I've just spent 2 months in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) and now I'm in Bogota for a couple more weeks. Any chance you are going to be any closer than coffee country between now and 7March?

That's a great question and it's very important to consult the latest information before making any travel plans. We generally felt on guard in Medellin but we've been very relaxed here in the coffee region. For every destination that we consider, we've been looking closely at any government warnings and taking them seriously.
