Difficult to "retire" to the country if you're still working. I actually liked the first house; second was also beautiful. The third was like a hotel, and when she said get my bags, she nailed it. Lots of nice choices if you have a million to spend.

It's a shame that people didn't know, when this show aired, that in just a few more years everyone with desk jobs like Chris's could work from home a great deal or most of the time!

I agree with the couple on House 1 - the downstairs let it down. It was a lovely place but if it's too dark or low ceiling that's gonna bother you. House 2 was lovely - liked everything. Mystery house, wow. Loved it. Loved that it wasn't out in the middle of nowhere (need those amenities close by when you get older). Shame it was too far for the commute for them.

House number one was absolutely hideous on the outside !! Would like to see more contemporary style houses. Many houses on this program look dilapidated and worn out : YES I know they are period properties, but the majority of them are dreadful. House number three was beautiful, only problem was the road out front …

If a house has small Windows you should not place the curtains in front of the glass, but instead put them much higher and wider than the actual window. In this way you create the illusion of a much bigger window.....

I think if you want to live in the country, you need to severe working ties with London. Those commute time just not feasible.

This! They almost always talk about a better work-life-balance and I always wonder how that can go if you spend 2-3 hours a day commuting. Even just on 2-3 days a week.

I think their expectations weren't realistic. His desire to live on the coast cou0led with a short commute wasn't going to happen...or so it seemed to me. But I'm not living in Britain.

The 3rd home although the only one that was worth close to a million. Besides being to far for work, i wouldn't like the road noise.
