Recount the escape of a dangerous killer named Alan Leer, who poses a serious threat to the community of New Brunswick's Miramichi River area. As law enforcement scrambles to locate him, a series of heinous crimes ensue, including arson, assault, and murder.
True-life Canadian crime investigations, unraveling the last 3-days of a victim's life, in an effort to find vital clues, which lead up to the cause - as well as - the crime, itself.

I lived in the area of Moncton at the time (I was still in high school). It was a pretty scary time. A few things to add. All the murders were horrendous. The sexual assaults were brutal and I was shocked that Mrs. Gelendening (the first victims) lived after what they did to her. Also the lady who got away with the taxi driver in the snowstorm, the one with the extra set of keys, she was an off duty police officer.

Why was this man not sentenced to life for every murder he committed,and not put away for his natural life.
@brendamcdonall5798
@brendamcdonall5798 2 ай бұрын
Because in Canada we don't have natural life sentences. The convicted person is given a " life" sentence with a stipulation of a specific number of years before they are eligible to apply for parole. After that, it's up to the Parole Board how long the convicted stays in prison or if they are imprisoned until they die.

I’m pleasantly surprised that the policeman was willing to take a third DNA test after the private investigator obtained a sample from him and the results were positive. I didn’t see that coming, as I believe most policemen would have refused to go any further, and would have said the case was closed. He’s a good cop, and a real man. She was amazing, just refusing to let him get away with it! Six years? SIX “6” YEARS!!! FOR RAPING HIS PATIENT!!!! Oh man, Canada is a joke. That woman is going to feel the pain of the rape for the rest of her life. What about HIS DAUGHTER? Not a stepdaughter, but his flesh and blood! I was hoping he got like 15-20 years, considering the nature of the crime. The rape, obstructing justice, attacking a patient, HIS PATIENT, in a hospital! If he’d have gotten enough time, than I could see not charging him for raping his own flesh and blood. That shoulda been 20. Now, I believe they need to try him for raping his daughter. Knowing Canada, he would have gotten the two sentences run concurrent, instead of consecutively, giving him the rape of his daughter, for free. Ugh. Canada.

What a sleezy mutt, those children and young ladies are now living a life of fear and dread of what might happen, no one has the right to instill that life on anybody. The situation involving his step-daughter is particularly horrendous, that animal is a Doctor, someone who people go to for medical help and advice, trust is essential and the fact that he took on the role of husband, father and above all protector, betrayal is what he practiced but by persistence the young mother got the mutt and is to be congratulated for repairing her reputation .

My mom's family is from Nowlanville (Miramichi, NB). We visited the summer he was on the loose, and absolutely everyone we visited had weapons readily available, like baseball bats and such; everyone was scared. I was too young to really realize at the time what was happening. I think that also would have been the summer we broke down in the middle the old Plaster Rock Highway, and my dad had to hitch a ride to a gas station where he could call one of our relatives to come get us, because there was no cell phones then, and nothing along the highway but the woods. 😅

Black humor is like an escape valve for the horrors these guys see. I have been studying police culture in reference to origins of cultural violence for over 20 years. Unfortunately this kind of humor can make people isolated from family, neighbors but never from other first responders. there is a mimetic energy to this humor. ‘I am part of this heroic part of life, but cynicism and cruel humor is my way of being part of it.. it has been a coping mechanism for a very long time.
