A relief to see some dress watches being reviewed rather than the wall to wall sports which we see 99% of the time. Thanks for the review. Maybe a little bit too ‘vintage’ for my taste but a really nice watch for the price nevertheless.

I agree. I think that many in the hobby feel the same way. I see this general dress orientated type of sports watch as being something that we will see a whole lot more of in the near future. Finally the industry might even put down its obsession with the Seamaster & Submariner and look at other interesting and practical Go Anywhere, Do Anything watch designs? I mean the SARB series, the Alpinist, the Explorer, the revitalised OP range, the Aqua-Terra and Globemaster... plus countless more have been proving the markets hunger for such pieces for the last decade! It'd be nice to see something that fits that bill that isn't a Tissot Gentleman or Certina DS Podium... as nice as they are (I have a 'Podium' so I’m not knocking them) a bit more variety at the $250USD-ish end of the market would be ɢʀᴇᴀᴛ!

Hi, Alexander, I think this is the first time we've disagreed on a watch my friend. I do like vintage dress watches but this one just seems to be too generic and the stark whiteness of that big empty dial? I love the movement and the fact that the indexes are applied but unfortunately for me that's it.👍
@AlexanderB.
@AlexanderB. 3 жыл бұрын
@@davemck1887 Hi Dave! Do you perceive the dial as being white? When you look at the macro shots the dial seems to be sunburst silver to my eye. And in terms of being an homage of a specific vintage Longines watch it does a pretty good job. The date window is unobtrusive and even the second markers have been moved inside of the minute markers to make the dial less plain or empty looking. And my comment was mostly geared towards the watch's specs. Cheers my friend! 😊

I ordered one of these watches. Just received it a week ago. Mine has the pt5000 movement in it. Mine has the ink black dial. This is a special watch. Now, whether you like it or not just depends on your taste in watches. I put mine on a bracelet. I have 6.5 inch wrist which is small. This watch looks absolutely wonderful. The movement is still unproven. We'll see how long it lasts. Right now its about 10 seconds slow each day but its stable. That's good as far as I am concerned. If the movement doesn't last I will install a Seagull ST2130 movement which will just drop in to replace the PT5000. These movements are not that expensive and this watch is so nice it will be worth keeping it running even if the movement doesn't last.

ᴇsᴄᴀᴘᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ ᴛɪᴍᴇ are absolutely killing it ATM. Granted, I don't own one... yet, but my discussions with friends & acquaintances who have/do own them echo your praise. I think cloning a vintage ʟᴏɴɢɪɴᴇs is genius. As a brand, Longines are about as good as it gets. I think this is a 'comparison' that highlight the importance of the brands heritage: Longines v's Omega = Rolex v's Omega of time. And Rolex? Rolex was the exciting 'new' kid on the block! - like Tudor today... but ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ innovative! Anyhow. I hope that doesn't come across as patronising, but I didn't know just how huge a brand Longines were back in the day until someone told me. 🙂 And this piece? The Miyota 9 series are a favourite of mine. All the quality of ETA without the cost, this guys work seems impressive. Personally I would prefer longer, more elegant lugs - even if it meant a reduction in case width, but that's just personal preference. And I'm a little bit over exhibition casebacks on watches with undecorated mov'ts. It adds unnecessary depth and the view's not that good... A simple and cost-effective s/steel case back would only add to the pieces elegance IMO, especially if E.T. are able to have them customised without ⬆️ the $ too much...or at all! But I'd really lean into the 'old mans watch' vibe by chucking it on a perlon or a 3rd party Milanese (or similar) and wear this with pride! Another fantastic looking timepiece from this very interesting and distinctive brand.

Hi Karl, great observation. There is some truth in that. Trends work that way I suppose as when reviewing watches, its often the we all are, when going through phases. When I started this channel, I loved exploring the Parnis, Cadisen and Paganis etc, and as you go on, tastes and interests evolve. Inspiration and ideas come come from the community, and that sparks inspiration. That is often how trends begin and spread. We are always on the hunt for new and interesting finds out there, but there aren't always new brands and releases all the time in the affordable category to make content creation easier. Thanks again for your comment Karl.

@@watchmewithwatches that is true ... when I started almost every watch review I was 'oooo nice I want it' and if it was budget I often got it. Now that I have over 40 watches fewer and fewer grab my attention .. usually I have something like it (while not the same close enough in terms of style and functionality) ... and then I figure if I do get another replacement watch it will likely be what I think of as a mid tier ($100-$1,500) upgrade. I do still love quality spec and value specials like the Escapement Time ... but new purchases REALLY need to stand out now. Had I not already had a Type B German made flieger I definitely would have picked up the Escapement Time version. Btw you really got me into the Steeldive watches ... I got the Captain Willard, my Bronze 50 fathoms is on the way (I also picked up a bronze buckle for it and a tropic strap) and I'll probably pick up the Addies (essentially a Steeldive) Tuna in the next Aliexpress sale. So thanks for finding that brand 👍.

@@watchmewithwatches I'm probably in the minority but one I'm definitely still looking for is a great dress watch with complications - moon phase. Been eyeing up a Zeppelin (true moonphase). There is also a Corgeut/ Debert (looks like a sun moon phase) that I have had my eye on but found no reviews on so i was skeptical about it.

This for me is proof that specs aren't everything. It just doesn't float my dinghy. Sorry Dan, it's a Granddad's watch. Well made I'm sure but I'm just not that close to the grave yet. Good stuff mate, cheers Dan.🐧

@@nintendokings I take your point my friend but there are lots of vintage dress watches I'd wear like Omega seamster, IWC and others that still seem fresh today. This particular one screams Stair lifts and Ovaltine to me but each to their own.👍

@@thetruth495 Yes but not in their The Conquest Heritage collection wich uses their L633.5 movement wich is Eta 2824 based. You are thinking about the L619.2 wich is in the flagship collection and based on Eta 2892-a2. Besides, modified does not mean improved. They are good movements, i wont argue with that but it does not mean that the miyota is trash because of it.
