O Hlw sir... For your kind information, E. Coli dose not takes the purple/ violate gram stain colour, it takes counter stain of safranin which is pink color, that's why it is gram negetive bacteria..

Those take color of crystal violet are gram gram positive.... not gram negative!

they both take crystal violet but gram negative bacteria is decolurized with alcohol and counter stained with safaranin and finally becomes pink or red due to safaranin NB alcohol cannot decolourize gram positive thus remains purple or blue due to crystalline violet.
