I'm glad Ireland won in 96 (I'm Irish what do you expect) but this was my personal winner. The quality of music in 96 was just so incredibly high. With Sweden, Norway and Ireland having beautiful songs that all could've won. I've also always been fond of the British entry and I thought 8th place was a bit harsh My top 5 1- Sweden 🇸🇪 2- Norway 🇳🇴 3- Ireland 🇮🇪 4- United Kingdom 🇬🇧 5- Estonia 🇪🇪

If I remember correctly upon reading about the group, I think it was mentioned that this song and other parts of the album it was on had help from a technician who also worked with Enya or Abba, one of the two. Concerning the dreamy atmosphere I can definitely hear the Enya influences, and when it comes to some of the harmonies I hear some Abba-style influences there.

The magic, the enchantment, the legendary aspects of this, wow. When I watched this through the 1996 contest, it really stood out to me as it felt like I was plopped into a folk legend with Nanne and Maria's voices. thinking of translating this for all of our non Swedish speaking listeners and viewers. personaly this is my favourite entry that Sweden has ever come up with in eurovision. i was born two years after this song came out, and i have dusty memmories of listening to it while i was sleeping in the car. we were going somewhere, and this song was playing softly on the radio ok, here we go! vintern den senker sin slöja, och bäddar in husen. the winter its lowering its veil, and imbeds the houses. här den i världshuset värmer, och maten och krusen. here that in the tavern it worms, and the food and the wine? i don't know how to translate the word krus here, but that will do. där dansar han med den vilda, de dansar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. there he is dancing with the wild one, they dance like werlpools in a waterfall. fyllda av stolthet och vilja, dansar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. filled with pride and will, they dance like werlpools in a waterfall. men ryckten i stugorna sprids medan snöflingor faller. but the rumers spread in the cottiges, while snowflakes fall. stjärnorna gnistrar mot isen, som klara kristaller. the stars shine against the ice, like clear crystals. där flyr han bort med de vilda, de rusar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. there he flees with the wild one, they run like werlpools in a waterfall. fyllda av stolthet och vilja, rusar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. droskan försvinner i natten, och snön blir till drivor ut med vägens kant. the carage vanishes in the night, and the snow turns in to piles along the edge of the way. hovslagen ekar bland bergen men, lekandes sorglös som ett vattenfall. the sound of the hoves ecos around the mountain, but playing without sadness or sorrow like a waterfall. natten den senker sin slöja, och suddar ut spåren. the night lowers its veil, and erraces the tracks. var de en är är de styrkan, som forsar om våren. wereever they are, they are the strength, like the streems of spring. där dansar han med den vilda, dansar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. there, he dances with the wild one, dancing like werlpools in a waterfall. fyllda av stolthet och vilja, dansar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. filled with pride and willl, they dance like werlpools in a waterfall. vilda av stolthet och vilja, dansar som virvlar i ett vattenfall. wild with pride and will, dancing like werlpools in a waterfall. there! hope i did justice to the song. if there are any mistakes let me know. thanks for posting, hello from Sweden.

Like clear crystals. There he escapes with the wild one. They rush away like swirls in a waterfall. Filled with pride and willpower. Rushes like swirls in a waterfall. The carriage disappears in the night, and the snow turns to snowdrifts along the road. The hoof-beats still echoes in the mountains Playing carefree like a waterfall The night lower it´s veil, and blurs out the tracks. Whereever they are, they have the strenght like the rapid in the spring. There he dances with the wild one. They dance like swirls in a waterfall. Filled with pride and willpower. Dances like swirls in a waterfall.
