A speaker converted into a vibration transducer cannot be as powerful, but I am sure it could work somewhat. The voice coil simply isn't designed for such a load, and I fear you may burn it if you try to push it too hard against a hard surface.

So the vibration can also be tune in using frequency ?

How did you mount this? Is the rod the only part that touches your seat?

As mentioned below in the thread... ''The bolt that is now epoxied onto the centre is what you attach to the seat. Make a hole in some place on your seat put the bolt through it, as you can see in my unit I have a butterfly nut to tighten it with. I had removed my armrest and therefore had a convenient hole to use but if you do not have any existing hole to use, well then you are going to have to use some bit of ingenuity and create one

Hi Edwin! First congrats on the video. It's an awesome project!!!! I'm writing this because I have a buttkicker starter kit (that comes with a 50W tactile transducer and a 90W amplifier) and I'm a little disappointed to be honest, because I thought it would be stronger. Because of that, I'm thinking about building one on my own. Would you know how a home made tactile transducer compare to a buttkicker? I mean, let's say a home made tactile with a 100W (or even a 300W) subwoofer and a 50W BK (such as the one I have or a BK gamer 2 that has the same tactile transducer). By the way, I see you mentioned XSim and I'm interested on using it for simulation also, racing simulation in my case. Thanks.

Aritan Maia I am afraid I can not really help you there as I have not experienced the BK and so my only reference is this DIY one I made.I ended up trying XSimulator "SimTools" but was told "Simtools buttkicker's support is under development" So what I have been doing is for the moment is driving the shaker amp from the PC audio bass output. I have put further development of this on hold as I am doing a lot of home DIY renovations at the moment. I do plan to take the smaller speakers and convert them for the the L & R channels.

b0ssnian Well! in the traditional sense No as you have removed the diaphragm that usually pushes air to which affects your eardrum and therefore sound so no diaphragm no sound. But depending on where you mount it and how much you turn the "volume" up on the amp you will hear something, lets say you mount this thing under a table using the bolt, the unit will vibrate and cause the table surface to vibrate and act like the diaphragm and yes sound is produced. However we are not sitting on a table driving our sim it's rather on a seat . these have relatively big flattish areas on them and if given enough power to the transducer will make sound somewhat muffled because of the seat padding. They can also make lots of sound if you have anything loose on the seat. as you can here in the video the washer is loose and it makes noise. I have mine mounted on an armrest mounting point (quite a solid part of the chair) so only if I crank it up do I start to bother family watching TV in the same room

cheers man! But the other thing is that; my sub woofer creates a large bassy booming sound if you understand what I mean, will this produce the same kind of sound? thank for the input :)

No! if you cut out the diaphragm the speaker will not work as before so no sound. It will just vibrate.

All transducers sometimes can resonate on furniture which may be audible, so you are aware. Also, if the mounting is loose enough to rattle, it will be very noisy :)
