While there is a decent finger choil for choking up on the knife it will also help not prevent but help your hand sliding up the blade on a stab. The micarta is nice and grippy even when wet or bloody, and if you have time a pinky lanyard would help your hand from sliding up onto the blade. The best way to resolve that would be to stab using a reverse grip with your thumb onnthe butt of the tang which will do a lot to help secure your grip. Thanks for the review and as someone who had the original 4 I find the 4HM much more comfortable for EDC or bushcrafting & the combination of leather sheath (you can select kydex or leather I like to have both) & the broomhandle really makes it look nontactical & less threatening as well as just nicer in general for wearing around. I also have recently replaced a 6 I owned years ago & the new 3D scales from either ESEE or TKC are game changers in my opinion. The knives were both great before but a fuller handle works better for me.
