A 6 is my favorite knife out at camp and if finds it’s way into most of my packs. A 6 with a sharp folder or small fixed blade or neck knife is a perfect combo. CR 2.5, Izula, Eldris, Case Trapper, Kershaw Blur are all great companions to a 6.

I agree bout the ESEE 6, i really like mine, so easy to carry cause it’s not cumbersome like so many other knifes of that size, I combine mine with a smaller bushcraft knife and a SAN, and even another knife like a mora. Makes a nice combo, good video

I like Esee products, but here in Europe they are pricey. I got a CS survivalist and a Gerber strongarm for the price of an Esee6, and have some €'s to spare! Like your vid 👍

Dan, thank you for your review and demonstration. I agree with you that the ESEE 6 is one of the best knives you can use for all of your outdoor knife tasks. I say that you cannot go wrong with an ESEE. They are made in America and are as tough as they come. Thank you and God bless.

I like my Esee 6HM, but I cannot abide a choil. Currenntly using a Casstrom woodsman.
@ochocobushcraft1742
@ochocobushcraft1742 5 ай бұрын
That Casstrom is a nice knife. I'm not a fan of choils either and would prefer an Esee6 without it. Yet the knife performs so wonderfully at everything I ask it to do, I just ignore it.

I love the 6. Have you ever tried a laser strike? That’s the one that rides in my scout pack, while the 6 lives in my get home bag. Both are great knives. Thank you for the great videos.

I did try the laser strike. I liked it but couldn't find a home for it in my kits. Always did the PR4 or JG3 with a bigger blade. Now of course the Ochoco Bush Knife never leaves my side. It was a great knife though!

Thanks Dan for the review of the ESEE 6. Do you like it better than the Junglas 2? I know that used to be your favorite even over the regular sized Junglas.

On the trail, I like the 6 because it's so light. Setting up my bushcraft camp, definitely the Junglas or Junglas 2.

Bought this knife a couple years ago. Great for all of the reasons you mentioned in the video, but I found using it on fire steel the same as using a butter knife. Spine geometry, and blade coating make it terrible for fire starting. So, you can make all the feather sticks you want, but good luck getting them going. Your thoughts?

I have since put a patina and very sharp 90 degree spine on this, and all my Esee knives. Just a few passes on a belt sander gives the sharp spine. You can see this demo in some of my newer videos.

I agree that ESEE makes really good knives, especially for their cost. But, ESEE really needs to start putting 90-degree spines on their knives, this will enhance the usage!!

I do not care for the Esee belt clip, so I take leather, add it with a belt loop, and add a drop leg piece with snaps. What is the folded knee/sitting pad you carry
@ochocobushcraft1742

I don't like their belt clip either. Have mine on a leather backer and casstrom dangler from TKC. Sounds like you have a nice setup.

😅 now i need another 6…. When i bought it, i didnt like it all that much …. I like the big jungles, and the stainless mora garberg …. That 6-7 inch size i could never really warm up to …. I have a mora pathfinder too, about same size as the 6 …. But that is laying more in a drawer than anything else …. The 6 is not a cheap knife either …. Maybe i just have to take it out more and see if i can like it …. Its not a bad knife…. Its just me … i dont know what it is
@ochocobushcraft1742
@ochocobushcraft1742 Жыл бұрын
The first couple times I felt exactly the same. Then when I just started letting the 6 be itself rather than trying to make it act like one of my other knives, I really really began to like it a lot!!! Hope that makes sense.

@@ochocobushcraft1742 yes - that does makes sense .... ! it is not like other knifes it has it own purpose and character. and you either become friends with it or you dont .... the knife is a good knife its me who needs to accept it for what it is
