Hi Tyanna, thank you so much for this video! As someone who worked in a labour rights NGO in Asia, it's disappointing to see that ESG is still mostly focused on the E vs the S, as well as the fact that the evidence is searched for in the documents and not practice. Self-reporting by department staff in consultations may also, in my mind, be self-censored. In your view do these disclosure processes overall capture implementation and whether the documents reflect reality?
@phamngan384510 ай бұрын
If a small business wants to make an ESG report on its own, then seek to get an Assurance statement from third-party independence. Where to look for? what type of company/service company and what titles have the authorization to issue and sign on the statement?

Where did you get your skills from? and how are you improving your skills or reskilling?
@TyannaBui2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I originally got my skills from school, internships, and talking to others in the industry. I continue to grow and improve based on where I want to pivot my career. For example, I did a lot of work in GHG accounting and when I realized I wanted to do more storytelling vs data analysis, I pivoted towards learning about reporting and environmental comms.

Thank you so much for your video! I think it's very useful. I have a question: Let's say you want to do a full assessment of a company, starting from retrieving data with research, offering strategy and then reporting. Would you say the first process is the materiality analysis, or a disclosure survey like CDP, DJSI or simillar? Why would you do one before the other? Hope you can help me! Thanks in advance
@TyannaBui Жыл бұрын
Hi Esteban, the first step of the process depends on the goal of the company environmental assessment. If it’s understanding it’s baseline, then it’s data analysis; investor/stakeholder communications then reporting disclosures; figuring out what stakeholders care about then materiality assessment. Hope this helps

Can you recommend any resources or videos showing how to do greenhouse gas accounting
@TyannaBui2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, great question. I would defer to this site to learn the basics of everything: www.wri.org/initiatives/greenhouse-gas-protocol Be warned, the technical documents though free to the public, are very technical, so take a bit longer to go through. I haven't seen too many free videos on this as a lot of certification programs are monetizing on this very niched information.
@madefromtofu Жыл бұрын
The methodology varies based on the your org and how big it is. Generally, you collect operation and times a GHG factor.

Would you recommend getting a MBA or a environmental management masters to go into this profesional space?
@TyannaBui2 жыл бұрын
Both would yield the same results I'd say. A difference to consider though is an MBA is strictly focused on business with a touch of sci/poli whereas the enviro management masters is mostly focused on science with a touch of buz/poli.

ESG will fade to irreverence. Just like DEI all the jobs. ESG looks good on the surface, but when you look into how the scores are calculated that's where the BS comes in. The Environmental impact is what everyone focuses on the most and that's a good thing. But for Social, why does it have the categories it has, everything in Social has laws governing these areas save for the supply chain, assuming your business isn't critical to a country's security or a part of a gov contract. And WTF is "Social vulnerability". For Governance, there are laws to cover these things as well. Why does the Board of Directors diversity matter? It should be a meritocracy, select the best person for the job. There are laws for pay ratios and discrimination. There are laws for business ethics. Accounting practices, laws for that as well, and the Board controls exec pay.
