Josh, thanks for your spot-on review of the 42" Eskimo Rod Locker. I bought the same model a few weeks ago to haul my rods & tackle on my Snowdog after breaking the tip of a top-quality rod using the 5-gallon bucket method. I attach it to the Snowdog crosswise on the cargo box with a bungee cord, and so far, that has worked out really well. On a few occasions, I have motored to a new spot with it stuffed between my feet in my sled, which also seems to work well. Thanks for the great work you do with your channel.

Sounds like a good setup!! I'll be making a spot for mine on the dog soon. Thanks for the kind words!

I was wondering if you had a couple of smaller rods/reels if you could stagger them slightly in order to fit an extra rod or in the same tube? Something like a total of 6 rods in the tubes?

Maybe, I haven't tried yet. I can fit a bunch in there without reels

I was going to get a 43" frost bite rod for lake trout. Do you think that would fit ok. Or should invest in something bigger?

Won't fit the tubes are shorter than that

I have the 46 mr big and running into the same issue. Can’t find anything big enough. I have a cheap rifle case I use now. But would like to upgrade

Late to the party but you can use a shorter butt attachment for the rod when it’s in the case

Damn I wished it held more than 4 rods...

Ya me too, if you don't put reels on all of them it can hold a bunch

Good review, after seeing your issue with that bigger rod, with the 3000 sized reel, I’m concerned now about purchasing this. I live up in Northern MB and have been just tossing my rods in my sleigh. I use 42” rods that do have that extended butt, for Lake Trout fishing and was very keen on getting this rod locker, but now am reconsidering it and thinking about maybe just going for Otters big locker. I do however think this would be great for my walleye rods and tackle. You carry a ton of plastics and tackle, I definitley don’t carry as much as you do 😁 my cases I guess are specific to what I’m targeting and I leave unnecessary tackle at home.
